Well, ped seem posting nothing, so i have another easy one:

Please don't play Captain Obvious saying "it's a lamp" (:p :D) ..... i want to see if you can guess what it do, and how it do that :eg:


EDIT: that title is wrong, it must be "how to turn TWO lighters in a mini motorcycle" ..... :p :D

^^ is that "lamp" a hat stretcher?
 
No, not a hat stretcher, sorry.

Hint: actuators (NOT in the sense that it use actuators :eg:)
 
So the lampshade is like a flower, you turn on the lamp, the bimetal strips warm up
and bend outwards to open the lampshade.
Turn it off and the strips cool down, contract and close around the bulb.

Am I right?
 
Basically yes, also if they are not bimetal, so i will give you this as win :beer:

The "petals" are made with SMA (shape memory alloy), and moves in accord with the more or less luminosity (and heat) that you set, and also for the air currents around the lamp.

Your turn ;)
 
Uhm ..... it looks as a high power led that incorporate its own driver and regulator ..... but i suppose it can't be so easy, right ? :p
