Here's a comparison of two of the lenses being sold on ebay now, the upper one is very similar to the lenses I received from Sci-Fi lasers at two dollars something each, maybe closer to three. Anyway, the lens holder in the lower half of this photo are the ones I prefer. Maybe it doesn't make a difference on that end of the lens holder if it has that thick retaining ring, but with the splash mine had I made an association against those lens holders with the big inner ring.

Jeff, I sure like the longer lens holder to keep from burning my fingers when trying to focus. It won't truncate with a G2 single element aspheric lens in it due to its short FL of close to 2.4mm, the exit end can be las long as you want it, after collimation, of course. Just mentioning this for those who might not know, I know that is why you wanted them, to put a G2 in and not burn your fingers.

The OP clearly says he knows nothing about optics in post #21 of the thread saying "I am not as familiar with optics, optical engineering is one of the most complex fields ". He knows nothing about lenses much less quality of lenses in that thread.

Yea, they are different in those photo's, I didn't look at the other photo's until you pointed it out. I wouldn't buy from a seller who does that with their photo's, you don't know what you will get. Probably doesn't matter with most China sellers, you can't assume the photo is what you will get anyway.

Edit: Encap, you posted as I was writing. I don't trust this at all, maybe he is a dreamer or just trying to make a few bucks reselling ebay stuff. I would be very happy to be wrong and this guy really have a lead on quality g2 lenses at a good price, but I don't expect that will be the reality.

One good thing I found when searching for focal lengths just now, to refresh my memory, the G7 appears to have about a 8 mm focal length which is great, I need to get some of those for my single mode laser diodes. The beam will be fat which is kind of a downer for low power laser pointers due to the reduced power density, or brightness of the beam when fatter, but wow, the divergence ought to be even better. I don't know how well a G7 would work with some multimode diodes, especially the NUBM44, probably will get truncated with that long of a FL, or will it? Anyone know?

Well, a G2 and G7 will have less loss than a 3 element lens, but specs? Nope, I prefer a 3 element lens with most of my laser diodes but they don't work well for the NUBM44 due to the long focal length and beam truncating inside the tube.

You can't take anything the guy says at face value --it is all noob daydreams and trolling for $s daydreams which is what has come out clearly in his misrepresentations of ebay prices in the thread. He knows nothing about lasers and even less about lenses for them --I doubt he has owned a laser and is pretty clear he has never made one and knows little if anything about them. All he has done is look at real builders work on LPF and trolled LPF with how his "design" will be the miracle that never has been. He makes "used car salesmen" look like saints. I get these lenses from a manufacture directly, unfortunately I don't have a website... I might when more of my products come out. The 11mm focal point lens is a M9x 05 and is 10mm long, 80% efficiency, I apologize if I said 85 before.

Yes 25 lenses minimum, it does not really make sense for me to address a package for a dollar or so profit... I am really looking for someone or a few people who want to distribute or sell these lenses... as even selling one batch of 25 does not provide much because I have the price so low

I have addressed Encaps concerns in another thread, he really likes picking on me for some reason....

Ok, here is the deal, to eliminate the concern, I ask that a user with power meters PMs me, I will give him the 3 free lenses to test if he posts the results.

Where did you get the 11mm FL from? Can you reference it on the net?

Edit: G2 lenses have 2.39 mm FL, G7 have 8 mm. This shouldn't be called either, if 11 mm. Maybe you meant 11 mm long lens holder?
