I bought a used Challenger2 recently for a higher power mod, But a small 2.4a boost driver is hard to find so I decided to swap out the 3.8mm 405 and use a New Osram 1.6w diode and a 1.8a xdrive, The brass threaded module has a small round ring that holds a 3.8mm diode, When ring is removed a 5.6mm diode can be pressed in. Have to make sure your pins a very short and heatshrinked if you want to fit a xdrive in the module and contact board to close it up, So luckily I had 2 1420 type batts on hand as I’m going to need 8.4v for the xdrive, Surprisingly I’ve used it many times and the batts are still holding up nicely, Oh forgot had to give this gaurdian a nice polish as well, big improvement in my opinion,

Just a fun modification, I’ll also add there was absolutely nothing wrong with this laser and it’s 700mw BDR209 diode.

Nice job, looks nice, good to know that you can get a 5.6 mm in.

Are you sure that’s the guardian host? Looks too thin and long for a guardian, more like a challenger.

Hi Billy,
Your challenger mod. turned out very nice, that highly polished look really sets it off, it would even make the original 405nm version look much better!
:gj:

PS - What brand of batteries are you using in it now?

Thanks for the link, Billy, I see that they're 14250's; I was confused, when I read the size (1420) in your first post.
I may have to pick up a few for those for small builds requiring 2 cells. :yh:
