Ok, the enclosure only costs me $30 so if you want it without encloseure then that's easy. subtract $30 from the total.

way better than buying a coherent lasercheck for liek 400 bucks...

depends on the popularity. At some point and time the interest goes away and you can't sell any more of them. I'll keep doing so as long as I can!

Not yet. I'm not going to offer it on the basic one but it will be an upgrade. I've got a means of doing so it's just not cost effective unless you choose to go with the upgrade.

could we solder on components and USB parts ourselves to upgrade it? sounds liek a fun DIY "mod".

or if the price is right I could just pay the masterful kenom (as said by senkat) to do it for me....
