FS/FT BROKEN "Android Finger"

If your worried about heat issues with this remember that you do not have to run said diode at full powa. A 750mW setting for a 635nm diode in this particular unit would be a nice build, NOT a waste. Remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I need not go into different driver combos:na: point is a 300mW MIT. driven it's nutz off or a conservatively set 500mW would IMHO look schweet in this particular host. Either way I guess I was taken back on your it's a "waste" statement. I have never considered any functioning build (all DIY are custom BTW) to be a waste regardless of diode preference:undecided:

What kind of host in your opinion would be not a waist for the 500mW MIT?

^ Agreed.

A rather odd statement :wtf:

anyhoo..

I offer $46 , for my DG Diode ;)

IMO, putting a 500mW Mitsu diode, into that host, would is a waste, just as putting in an m140 in there would be a waste.

Not that there is anything technically wrong with it.

I mean there is nothing wrong with a low powered laser, in fact I really don't see the need for over 1W in most cases.

Given the size limitations of this host though... why in the world would you want to underdrive or not drive a $90 diode hard, when you can get a $42 one, overdrive it, and enjoy it for a longer time, with regards to duty cycle?

Most of the 300mW diodes do hit 500mW without much trouble...

Raising offer to $47 :pop:

Edit:

I would guess because you'd sacrafice diode lifetime.

Given typical pointer use, I don't think diode lifetime is that much of an issue... even if you limit your diode lifetime to hours, you're still likely to enjoy the laser for months, or years. I have lots of lasers, so far only had one diode die on me. Very few of them are used for more than 10 minutes a months.

@IE no worries man if I wanted to put a 6x in there a year ago someone would have said no man you'll have heat issues lol... It's more for me to see a host and be completely compulsive on diode selection. Have a good day.

I'm waiting on a 12x right now actually... in a TINY host... :p

I'll post a review once I get it :D

Sorry to just be getting back to this thread, I got your PM infinitus. So to clarify
some things, here is the original build thread by rhd: http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/n...5nm-polished-silver-chrome-14500-a-71297.html. I would rebuild this laser myself, but I'm in the process of moving and have all my
building stuff packed.

I will include shipping for any offers WITHIN THE US, otherwise we will have to get a
quote on shipping.

I'm looking for ~100-150 mW or so green pen if anyone has one
lying around and would be happy to trade.

Will consider all offers, best offer by 10 pm this Friday night gets it.

Thanks, and sorry for the initial confusion. ;)

Figured as much :p

I doubt I will be raising my offer from what I proposed... there was a sale on cognac, and I picked up a case... even on sale, not cheap :drunk:

Good luck with the auction.
