Hello Jay, I got my 405-g1 installed today. Had to do a little modification, ( Host is my Arctic ) I initially could not get focus, the kurled focus ring was bottoming out on the top of the module. So I ended up removing the ring, and was able to adjust focus with a screwdriver. It took a total of just over 19 turns in (and two wraps of teflon tape) to get the best line. I have no LPM but from crude burning tests it seems much more energetic! The best increase in up close burning seems to be around 8ft and less, beyond this range it falls off fairly quick. Overall I am quite pleased:san: Thanks alot for your advice, and very fast service!

Jim

So that was on an Arctic? Because with AixiZ modules, you don't need to remove the focus ring to get focus...

Edit: Oh, I see you said it was on an Arctic...

Glad you got it worked out!

Thanks Jay, I have to say I was a little hesitant at first to try this mod. After hearing the tales of some others on this forum! Besides being lucky enough to receive an almost perfect example ( lucky I know! ) But am very glad I did. I believe I will have another go to " fine tune " the focus today, as you mentioned in your instructions, this lens focus is very sensitive and touchy! I have some spare stainless tubing lying around and using a die grinder will fashion a focusing tool similar to what Dagin sells. should be much more easy to do this while it's on!
