Comparisons: (red open can)
AixiZ acrylic vs AixiZ glass - Gain 4 to 5%
AixiZ acrylic vs AR coated acrylic from Virtual Village - Gain 10%
AixiZ acrylic vs Meredith acrylic - No gain, or very minimal gain
AixiZ acrylic vs Meredith glass - Gain about 20%
AixiZ acrylic vs 405-G-1 glass lens - Gain about 15%

Comparisons: (blu-ray)
AixiZ acrylic vs 405-G-1 glass - Gain 26 to 28%
Meredith glass vs 405-G-1 glass - Gain 18%
(for blu-ray, AixiZ glass and Meredith acrylic are both less power than AixiZ acrylic)

Impressive figures, Jay  :o Also impressive is the lens in action - you can really SEE the difference :D

Thanks for taking the time to compile this and the other info on the lenses for everyone  8-)

The last one might be true ^^ Or maybe the battery its not charging fully. Can you tell me the usual life of the battery in a PHR-803T running at 121ma?

It is going to depend on the battery capacity, as well as the driver. If it is a boost circuit, like a FlexDrive that it boosting voltage from a single battery supply to give 5 volts to your blu-ray diode, then the current draw will be higher as the voltage starts to drop on the battery.

If you just calculated a constant battery current draw from say a 1300mAh CR123, and the current draw was a direct 120mA's, your battery would last a long time. 1300 / 120 is like 10 hours. But most likely you have a FlexDrive boost circuit.

I get a 380mA current draw from a fresh Energizer e2 CR123. This is in a Pocket Mini 6X set at 181mA's. (FlexDrive) As the battery starts to drain, the current draw will actually get higher. Because the driver will have to boost the voltage to keep up with the 5 volt demand. The Flexdrive uses extra current to do this.

But lets just say that there will be an average of 600mA's draw from the single 1300mAh battery...

1300mAh / 600mA will be about 2 hours to give you an idea...

Traveller, your welcome! :)

Really glad you like the 405-G-1 glass lens modification!

Thanks for your answer Jay :)
Yeah its the Flexdrive, its your pocket mini. And the battery is a 3,6 V 1000mah (LIR123A) From what i saw i don't get more than 15-20 min from it.Is there a better rechargeable battery out there that i can use?

Re: FS: 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod-28% Increase vs Aix

Maybe it is just a bad battery, because I would think if it were 1000mAh's, you would get much more run time...

I have not compared any different rechargeable batteries, because I favor the Energizer e2 Lithium primaries. But a very popular battery, and the only one that I have used for RCR123 is the Ultrafire:

China - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3273
U.S. - http://www.batteryjunction.com/uf16340.html

It might also be your charger. You should get 4.2 volts from a fully charged battery.

Re: FS: 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod-28% Increase vs Aix

Got the new lens a couple days ago, quicker than I expected, thanks.

The only snag was the diode not pressed fully into the housing. Once that was done, it focused fine.

My 6X was outputting 230mW with an acrylic and jumped to 280mW with the 405-G-1, or +22%
At this level I was able to light a White tipped kitchen match at 24 Feet! (Tripod)

I also tried this lens on a Open can red that was outputting 305mW - it jumped to 345mW, or +13%

! want more, want to... Burn things ! [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=evil.gif]

Just curious about what meter you have...

Only because the increase percentage is much different than everybody else. Actually, the red increase is close to what I get ($15%) But the blu-ray seems low.

Yea, about that... ::)
Your comment led me to do more comparisons. I do get more like 27% plus if I switch lenses quickly, and re-measure. This may be temperature related. I just did a quick compare at first that was less than accurate, I guess :-[
The meter is a thermopile type DIY - got the head from ebay last year when they were abundant for like $35 with mother board containing the op amp.
It has been a crucial piece of equipment since the day it was operating! I can say the gain circuit is traceable accuracy -wise, but I can't say for sure the absolute accuracy of the head itself is.
Anyway, I have gotten up to 313mW from a 6x with this lens now, and am Very impressed :D!

BTW sending a PM for 1 more of these - wish I could afford more ;)

Re: FS: 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod-28% Increase vs Aix

Good deal Kurt! I can have it in Monday's mail...

Also, just to let you know that I have done this same thing with the Meredith glass lenses fit for AixiZ if you want 20% increase vs AixiZ acylic for red in an AixiZ build:

P.S. ohada, your 405-G-1 glass lens mods will be in Monday's mail. (your Meredith glass mod too) :)

Re: FS: 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod-28% Increase vs Aix

Thanks for the fast shipping.
The lense is just as you described....Amazing Burner :)
Worth every penny if you ask me.
Thanks Jay :)

I really couldn't believe how much better it made my PHR. My PHR was running at 150mA and with this lense I was able to light insenses and Cigars, which is something that I couldn't do before.

Unfortionatly, due to the use that I put my PHR through to test the new lense, I killed my last PHR diode. :(
Oh well, I have a 6x coming in the mail. I can't wait!!

If I where forced to complain on any of it, I would have to say the slight splash/spill that the lense puts out right next to the extremely small dot. It doesn't seem to alter it's amazing burning capabilities though.

Thanks again Jay,
Heath

Unfortunately it will be a while before I can do a side-by-side with BRs as I'm still waiting on my second 6x... *cough*IIIGOOOR!!!*cough* but I played around with my...

...with my DaGuin DJR 6X set to 180mW 8-)

If you view the BR's output after acrylic using safety goggles, you will note a rectangular illumination. This same rectangle is visible w/o goggles when using the 405-G-1. What I'm suggesting here is that the rectangle is not a byproduct of the lens. The vertical intersecting line and "V" lines (first noted by Milos) may be artifacts that are standard but "enhanced" to the point of visibility by the 405-G-1 lens.

the above observations are just my own assumptions, of course. Have a look at the pics below and feel free to draw your own conclusions... :)

Re: FS: 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod-28% Increase vs Aix

Extremely impressed by your lens, the output increase is extremely noticeable. I say at least added 30mW if not more. Just a bit more power and this 6X 200mW blu-ray would nearly have six foot range as is I can burn within 3 to 4 feet. The best part is the night sky, at night it starts out with beam stronger than a 150mW green. Amazing.

Re: FS: 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod-28% Increase vs Aix

I bought 3 of these lenses from Jay, they are phenominal for power increase!

They do seem to have some odd shapes, I would imagine that most feel its a pretty fair trade off. I have a 6x in a rominsen body that was putting out 260mW with an acrylic, I changed out the lens for the glass and its doing 330mW :)

Certainly worth the extra $$$
