Re: FS:  Two New Matched Sets

Should I ship the caps and such to you or to your buyer?

I am re-opening the sale of the matched set of MXDL lasers. The person who wanted them has dropped off of the face of the earth :-/

MXDL hosts
Jayrob heat sinks
Flexdrives
Merideth glass modules/lenses
17670 batteries
storage/carrying case

The 405nm is putting out 180mW
The red is putting out 320mW

$325, shipped in the US

Peace,
dave

Re: FS:  Two New Matched Sets

It's so bad of me to want this, when I haven't even gotten the build you made for me yet. ;)

Some people are not comfortable with living on the edge. That's why I offered to adjust them to whatever the buyer wants. I, obviously, don't have a problem with it. The difference between a 110mW beam and a 180mW beam IS pronounced and worth the limit.

How much of a difference is there between the beam on this, and the 150mW you built for me?

It's not "bad" for you to want these. It's a very nice matched set. However, you may want to wait until you've had a chance to play with the new one before buying any new ones. Plus, if this looks good to you, we can have a red built for you to match the one that is coming in about two weeks time (I will have to order the heat sink and host). Then you could have a matched set by only buying one more laser instead of two.

OR, if you really want the higher output along with their shorter duty cycle, you could buy these and then sell the other one to make part of your money back.

OR since the laser that's in the mail now is new, you could ship it back to me (unused) and I would give you credit for the purchase price minus shipping charges against the price of this set.

The difference between a 150mW beam and a 180mW beam is pretty clear even for old eyes like mine. My personal 405nm lasers put out around 180mW (except my DT-0811, my PS3, and my "pocket Rocket.")

Re: FS:  New Matched Set of MXDL Hosts

Well, I think what I'm going to do is this.
1) Enjoy the laser you made for me. :) I'm really looking forward to getting it, and there is no way I'd be able to receive it and send it right back without trying it!

2) I'm also getting a laser from IgorT. A very different size/build than the one I got from you. More fun toys for me to play with.

3) I hadn't even thought to get a red laser built from you to match this one for a matched set. As you can tell, I'm not too bright at times :P (Alot of times, according to my wife ;) )

4) I may also think about sending the one you made for me, back to you at a later date, to get it either tuned up differently / modified, or rebuilt into a shorter duty cycle / higher output mW unit.

I think that is going to be the most cost effective way to go about this. As well, as giving me some fun toys to play with.

Thanks for the suggestions! Now my mind is spinning even more. :)

Sounds good.  You're going to love the IgorT laser as well.  When you see the beam brightness difference between the IgorT and the MXDL, you will have an inkling of the relative "brightness" increase between the 150mW and the 180mW beams.  When/if you are ready for a red burner, just let me know.  If you want to turn this one up at a later date you can send it back.  I'll do that for free.  You will just have to pay the shipping and leave it with me for a week so that I can be sure the diode will take the increased current.

Have fun!

Peace,
dave
