From concept to reality - Phobos host (taking orders)

What 16340 are you using? If you're going for high quality brand like AW, then upgrade to AW 18350, they'll always be better in every case - even be able to supply even higher currents for all the power hungry high voltage diode + boost driver combinations out there.

$55, due to extra material used.

You want one?

Yes obviously I WANT one. The prob is that I'm buying the maglite host from jayrob right now for a 1.75A 445 deal. I will definitely buy this once I want a different color.

PM sent, ready to pay.
I will probably end up ordering a couple more of these seeing as how there are so many options for so many different builds that i would like to do this will be perfect to hold an 18650 for 3.2v batteries for 3v modules, and 18650 3.7v and also the 16340's or the 18350's i was going to order some 16340's last night so i can have all the batteries i need for whatever build i decide to do first with this Phobus extended version i am glad i did not as i forgot that the 18350's can fit in an 18650 host too, so i will order a couple of those instead and i already have more than enough 18650's laying around.
I think i might do a 2w 445 build first, use a g-1 lens put the Mohgasm 16mm round driver in there at 1.62A and providing its a healthy diode i should be close to the 1.8-2w marker i do not want to drive it at 1.8A just seems a little on the edgy side of things. Will the 16mm round driver fit in this host very good and be able to heat sink it, or should i go with the rectangular driver and use some thermal adhesive to stick it on the sides of the host, what driver will give me the best possible options/way to keep it cool and have the most surface area connected to the host for the best heat sinking?
Thanks again for building this host for me i hope i can get some more from you just like this one you built in a few weeks from now.

You have both 17mm pocket for driver boards and enough room for rectangular drivers - the choice is yours - though it could be difficult to thermally adhere rectangular driver to the "side" of the driver space since it's perfectly round, unless you work out some half-moon heatsinks like the ones Moh used to make... and maybe some other members too, I don't remember.

In short, I'd reccomend using 16mm round board if you can, it's generally more massive and can take more abuse from high current applications.

I'll have it made, and waiting for you whenever you're ready

Alright cool; it looks perfect for a 405 12x project (750mW!). I do have a suggestion though. I think it would look cool if you were to paint the ridges black or something. Maybe get this bad guy powder coated even. That would look awesome? Matte black? Copper-tone?

Certanly would, but I have no means to do a powder coating.

You'd have to contact a member to do it for you if you wish, since I'm unable to even start getting all the materials and tools needed for that.

If I did, they'd already be powder coated :p

I meant buying it then taking it to a powder coating place. I have a pretty good one near where I live. I got my bike done (it looks awesome!). Also, would you be able to make a host that is just a plain cylinder? My brother wants one without the ridges.

Yeah sure, so that's two hosts for you, one without the ridges?

Both with long barrels for 18650?

Nah that's just one, I was thinking of getting my brother one but he said "I'd rather have it without the ridges" lol
BTW if he can get this, it wouldn't be for at least a month because he's lending me $200 to get my jayrob Maglite done and I only make $100 a paycheck(every 2 weeks)

Alright, let me know when you want to buy it.

In the meantime, I'll see if I can set up a proper sales thread in Pro BST section once I design the Phobos so I can offer both 16340 and 18650 version of both Phobos and Deimos. Deimos should have direct pressfit heatsink along with a few changes I have in my head, just to see if I can implement them.

Well... some goodies came today. Thx euds!

Nah man, thank you for your business! Let me know if you need any help with 'em.

Don't worry Baron, yours will be waiting for when you're ready to buy :)
