Just curious what your application is for these. The Flexmod has a few functions you most likely won't need if your building a simple handheld laser or similar. There are cheaper alternative drivers out there that are just as good, if not better, depending on what your end point is. The Lasorb is a cool little device but if you are building a handheld laser I can't see how this thing would benefit you much. It's unlikely that once you've got everything assembled you would get a static discharge through the LD. Even with swapping batteries you're likely to discharge any static through the body of the host unless you were carefully trying to place a battery in and specifically trying o discharge a pulse through the battery coming in contact with your driver lead. That's unlikely. I've never killed an LD with static before, even during the build process. I guess for $8 it's not big expense but I'm not convinced they are of much use for my applications. I can see where they may be useful for projector circuits.
