I like these new flat diodes alot they are very efficient and powerful for such a small package. I use the tiny focusing modules that come inside of a cheap 3-5mW laser, usually I get them from a flashlight/laser combo. The flat diode fits perfectly in the module but the lense is acrylic I am trying to find a tiny glass lense! So here is what I came up with: the host was a small ir remote, tiny focusing module, finned heatsink, powered up by 3x L1154F's and I am getting 205mW's out of her . YEAH GET SOME !!!!

Nice idea you have. Some of us machined out an Aixiz module and glued the flat pak into it. That's a lot of work and hard to get ahold of the module without deforming the threads. Mine worked good until I pushed too hard.

I did the aixiz like this with a brass bushing it works great and I use a glass lense too, thats for a normal size builds but when i am working on a tiny build i use the tiny module from the flashlight/laser combo
thanks

Another nice build, your getting too good at this :p

Did you say it was remote controlled? Where did you get the switch from? :)

I think he meant that the host was an IR remote control. I could be wrong though xD

Still, very nice looking :)

Flat diode builds have been posted for a couple months but the info got burried.

dieselmarine;

Nice job on the remote build.

Which Red diodes are you using ?
Are they from DVD writers ?

The flat Reds I have tested have been very efficient,
but they still need adequate heat sinking.

Mike, I've seen some preliminary test data and a post or two about the diodes, but never a build.
I'll have to do a search for builds using this LD.(I did not use my friend, the search button:spank:)
It just so happens, I now have two of these.(look like them anyway), I assumed they were low powered ones, although.
My brother said he removed them from DVD players.
but he does not know s#it about LD's

The ones I use are from the LG BH08 8x shed

Don't quote me but I think he's right Mike, My search only came up with the flat diode testing , no builds.

No Asherz the host use to be a ir remote for a reptile feeding bowl that vibrated and manipulated the dead food to look alive and tempting but my monitors destroyed it so I had the remote just collecting dust .

I'm an idiot :P

My bad it was late and I didn't read it properly. I just assumed it was remote controlled since you did that last build with a remote on/off switch :)
