M140 diode hooked up with a 1.8A SXD. Firepoint-x/303 host! Very happy. It only took all freakin day!

"It only took all freakin day! ":ROFLMAO:. I enjoy diode projects, but I really prefer other laser types. I have been working on a flash lamp dye laser for over 7 months. It may be ready for a test run today. The home built argon took a year and a half. It was extremely difficult, requiring patience bordering on insanity. Diode lasers are like that line in Star Wars about the dark side: "quicker, easier, more seductive". (BTW not a fan).

Nice job on your first build. The next one will be easier now that you know what you are up against.

Taylor, nice! You managed to mod a 303 host which isn't the easiest to work with:)(y)

Thanks all! I've blown about a dozen diodes and 1 X Drive! Persistence is key in this hobby. Cheers to many more. Next is the pl520. I'll post when finished! Im gonna do a red build after. Then on to more power!

There are plenty of red diodes to choose from. Depending on if you want a single mode, look into the LPC840 which can do 400 mW, or a multi-mode with terrible divergence like the Mitsubishi ML501P73 at 653nm. You can get just over a watt out of it, but the long line it produces instead of a dot might disappoint.

Does "DTR" sell the LPC840? I like how i can get my orders within 3 days. And I don't mind giving him my money.

I have purchased all of mine from either Techhood, Existotem, Newgazer or Laserlands on eBay. They are all trusted sellers of laser diodes and I paid less than $15.00 for my first one when they were released and less now. They are cathode case connected, but with the type of drivers we use that is not a problem at all.

Sweet thanks. I've finished the pl520! It's over in the green section if you wanna check it out! This place is so helpful!
