So, I recently ordered the Power Rock 400mW Blu-ray 405 nm laser from O-like.com. I watched a few videos and reviews on this laser and they seemed good. The Videos and Reviews said it could burn Paper, Electrical Tape, and Pop Balloons. Once I received the laser, I tested burning paper. I put a Black Dot on the Paper with a Sharpie and Focused the laser on the Black Dot until I could see a Precise tiny, purple dot. I waited about a minute and nothing happened. I removed the laser and felt the black dot with my index finger. It was barely warm. Is it suppose to take more than about 5 Minutes for Paper to burn? Is the Laser suppose to Warm Up before it can burn anything? :)

Did you charge the cell.?

Could also be a bad battery.

The laser does not sound damage because you Say the paper was warm to the touch after trying to burn it.

I charged the Cell until the Recharger had a Green Light. It might be that I have a bad battery. Is there to be a certain amount of time to charge the cell? :)

It didn't take long for it to charge the battery. It takes about 10 Minutes to Charge the battery until the Charger Light turns Green. Is it normally suppose to take this long to charge?

Yes Get a new battery first. Then deal with o-like if you have to return it.

400mW should burn trough black paper in 0.01 second , hope you come back with the same confirmed message :)

You could buy this battery, too:
Solar Force 18650 protected 2400mAh
They are protected and able to bring over 5A if the Driver wants it. (Good for flashlights)
They are one the best budget batteries on the market.
I user them for my flashlights and they are very good.

The AW-batteries are a bit better but they cost a lot more.

Btw: I bought this packet 5 month ago and I'm statisfied:
Solar Force - 4 batteries + charger

You're looking at the purple dot of a 400mW 405nm laser at close range indoors?

Safety goggles?

Hope you get it to work.

You must measure the battery voltage with a multimeter in order to be certain that the battery is fully charged. A fully charged battery should output 4.2v.

If the battery is OK, than this laser is supposed to burn a hole in a black paper in a split second. If it doesn't then something is probably wrong with this unit, but you will have to LPM it to be sure.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turned to be that your unit is way underspec.

From my experience, O-like lasers tend to be underspec.

I had to return two lasers to O-like for that reason and that's why I don't buy from them anymore.

Even ~200mW of 405nm should burn through black paper easily.

If the battery is ok, the other thing to consider is that it's very hard to focus a 405nm laser without goggles.

Still, a new battery, and good charger is the first step to take regardless.

O-like lasers are hit or miss sometimes. I have good experience with them, and bad.

They will honor an exchange though, but it is expensive, and a major PITA.

A battery can show fully charged on the DMM and still be bad under load. I would say more then 50% of the time, The cells that come with the lasers have this problem. Normally because the are not cycled through and sit in the box until someone buys the laser which could be a wail.

So will the Solar Force 18650 protected 2400mAh Battery be compatible with the Laser and The Charger I am using? I am just a bit worried I might receive the wrong type of Battery! I will insert a photo of the Charger/Laser.
