First GGW 6X build - success! [Heavy pictures]

awesome thank you. i thought you blew the diode somehow when screwing it on. will 90mw beam be visible? and will it should light matches.
It will be visible in darkness, and it will light matches no problem.

About blowing an GGW diode, the prank I played on x90z75ek was the best and worst one possible. After completing the build, I told him that I destroyed the diode

That was dark, was it not?

Good thing I was 85 km away from him at the time, when I showed him the laser over skype a minute later... well, let's just leave it at that

hey could you add me on stype eudimonium and everyone else my name is : tterbo-lasers

cheers

I use that same little sucker upper solder tool, exept mine is red. How do you suck up the solder when it gets down and makes a thin layer on the diode/module? I just can't ever get it back off, and usually it connects two pins together.

use solder braide. or if you have lots of money get on of those solderinmg irons with a cavume on the tip as soon as its hot enough it is instantly sucked away.
cheers

In tiny SMD work, I don't even use the solder pump...

Soldering wick, a.k.a. soldering braid, is exeptionally useful.

I use the soldering pump only when desoldering/harvesting though-hole components and similar larger-scale work.

This build certainly came out well! Nice pics and a video. I'm glad that it worked out perfectly for you. Nice to have a 6x, and it's quite blue as well. Your driver looks pro ... :gj:

Thanks Bill, I did my best.

A thousand thanks for the host, once again. I told you that nothing less but 6x is worthy of such a host. I kept my word :D

Definitely good use of the host and the 18650 should have a great runtime. Just found another one of these hosts behind a beer stein on a bookshelf ...
