The beam is fine for about half a second and then it just dies out. Just got this laser today had no idea that the cap was on.. I messaged jet lasers about it asking if I should send it back, I haven’t ever built a laser so I don’t there’s anything I could do myself to fix this. From what I’ve read before having this laser firing it with the cap on pretty much ruins the diode.. my batteries aren't fully charged so I'm hoping it will be okay once they are at a full power. Will update what happens when they are at full charge. ( I took off the reflective foil that's on the inside of the cap after realizing what just happened )

EDIT: with my batteries at full power it seems that my laser is fine! :D
sorry for the freak out I had just barely got this laser today

Glad to hear it. Yeah, those high-wattage diodes pull the battery voltage down pretty hard when the cell is running out of energy. No need to be sorry about worrying. I know that feeling very well, when it comes to the lasers we love.
