[FINISHED] 2nd Build Thread *pics*: ~1W @ 445nm in Flashlighthost

Re: 2nd Build Thread *pics*: 1,5W @ 445nm in Flashlighthost

Eh.. lol.. whats the differnece if I do that? I mean the driver is rated at 3,7-4,2V (perfect for 18650) and why should I use batteries with each 3,7V?

It would be cool if someone can explain me that :x

The input is not all that matters.

Your laser diode needs about 5-6 volts to operate.

Optimally, you want your input to be higher than that. If it is lower, it is called "boosting" the voltage. This generates WAY more heat and wasted energy, and with a chip like the AMC7135, i don't know if it can be done.

Then again, maybe it is possible. I have no idea.

UPDATE:
Today I ordered two CR123A 3.7V 1200mAh batteries, a driver @925mA and I think I will work or finish this build next weekend. *happy*
UPDATE2:
My batteries arrived. Tested each and got they fully charged at 3.98 volts. Not bad :D
Tomorrow I should get my driver and on fri- or sunday I will assemble the laser.

UPDATE3:
Now I have all parts for the laser, the a bad pic from my mobile-phone camera:

Finally assembled. Wow.. turned on. Goes good bright, then very dim. Driver is ok, voltage too. What the hell? ._.

Re: [HELP] 2nd Build Thread *pics*: ~1W @ 445nm in Flashlighthost

Do you have GOOD quality batteries? Could be to much current draw if the batteries are not good quality?
Also could be a poor solder joint.

Re: [HELP] 2nd Build Thread *pics*: ~1W @ 445nm in Flashlighthost

The Batteries have a capacity of 1,2Ah and the driver gets 0.925A from it. Measured with my multimeter.. i will check it with two 18650 batteries.

EDIT: Tested with my 2,6Ah 18650 batteries.. same effect :(
EDIT2: I will now reassemble with other wires.
EDIT3: Reassembled, tested. Same effect. Not sure if it helps, but the beamspek is very bad.

Oh no! What diode and current from the driver?

What driver is this?

Can we have a picture of the unfocused beam/spot?

Thanks

The problem would be, if I send you the laser, that the customs maybe will collect the laser. :c

I will reassemble now with another laserdiode from my MS-SSW working laser o:

EDIT: Reassembled with another diode.. works. Shit :( My first loss, byebye M140 diode :C
EDIT2: Now I have another problem.. my heatsink is too big for the module. It passed perfect but it doesnt hold and will fall out.. i have no idea how to hold it in place :(
EDIT3: Fixed, fuck yea! <3

Glad you got it going. Seems like when I first started building I would be extra careful not to blow a diode and about half the time I would still let the smoke out of one.
Then I started saying screw it either she will blow or go. Haven't lost a diode since

I think you got a bad driver. :(

Sorry, but i would get a well known driver next time to avoid stuff like this....

Better luck next time. PM with any questions...

I feel bad for you bro. Losing a diode really sucks.
