finding a host for a scifi diode

A long time ago I ordered a 7.0w 445nm laser from scifi lasers in two pieces and long story short I only got the diode and no housing. From the looks of it and all the drama going on I don't think I'll be getting it at all and was wondering what you guys would recommend for finding/making a host for it. (I hope I posted this in the right area and sorry if this is the wrong place!)

can you post a pic?

Did you get a module with diode or just a bare diode? If you only have the diode, then youll need either a press fit host, or a module to fit it into a 12 mm heat sink. If the former, just a heat sink. Lots of options out there just look in the BST section.

I really like the Arcane 2.0 host. Very solid hunk of metal. I guess the younger crowd would say 'OMG WTF that's so metal'. :yh: IIRC, he was having them made in China. If they believe he's out of business, I wonder if we'll see knock-offs coming out soon. We all know patents or any other intellectual property doesn't matter much, if at all, to many over there.

I would suggest the Survival Lasers S4x host as it is reasonable and theres a diy thread here

Btw, isn't there a member that got the host only?

Not near enough info. Post photos of it. Is it a complete module like one of these? https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/diodes/6w-nubm44-445nm-laser-diode Is it a full length module 30mm or is the back half half length? Does it include the driver? If not then you will need that too.

Doe's ring a bell:thinking:

I remember that in one of the other threads and I think he sent it back and was asking for a refund after several months, and Eitan was telling him no refund until he gets the diode back, but the guy never received the diode/module.

Yup, that's it

Sorry for the delay I made the post at school and had to get home to get pictures of the diode. The copper looking piece is the arcane 2.0 diode and the silver one next to it for reference is a 700mw 501B also by scifi lasers. I'm showing that one as well since someone asked if it came with a built in head sink and I can't say with confidence whether it does come with it or not. Thanks for all the responses!

is the driver inside the silver piece?

Yes, it definitely looks like it. I didn't get to get a pic of inside the black cylinder but the only other thing in there is the on off switch. It also looks like he had it set up to where you can mix and match the diode/sink/driver assembly between the same housings.

it seem like everything is confided within DTR modules by the look of it.

i can machine you a host.. just need to know the thread size....or if you manage to remove the dtr module from the threaded bigger heat sink you can put it in any host.

Hi Ned,
It's a simple501 B host for the silver heat sink. They just drop in and screw on the front Bezel and your ready to go. If you can post a OD measurement i have plenty of those hosts brand new, and if it's a 638nm Red in the heat sink i have Red colored host to match the WL.

His 501b is complete, it's the Arcane host he needs
