Finally i won on lottery! I didn't. Actually I bankrupted:):undecided:
I buyed perfectly working multiline LASOS argon ion laser head LGK 7890A Rev.01 with original power supply LGN-7872-01
(Output 70-140VDC, 3.5-9.0A), with remote interface, and professional LAB laser safety goggles for 1000€.
Unfortunately tube have 5500 working hours, but surprisingly output power is like specification in datasheet (https://www.lasos.com/products/lasos-ar-ion-laser-series/) say minimum power on 3.5A - 1.4mW and on 6.5A - 14mW
(4mW@454/457nm; 10mW@514nm)
My head give 1.4mW on IDLE, and 15.3mW on RUN @ 6.5A as you can see in picture.
I try 10 second torture on 9A output is 22mW :eg:

I am so so happy and proud to have this BEAST!:bowdown::bowdown:

That is a very clean unit. Looks like a recent pull. Still, that is a lot of money for an argon and power supply. I got mine for ~$200.00 complete with a replacement tube installed. Enjoy. You certainly paid for it.

Kill joy! Hard to find deals like that, I bet... but if you wait long enough, good things come :) I'd like to see a photo of the beam before it is split too :)

This is beam hitting on CD as diffraction grating, and lines on my ceiling.
You can see 2 blue line and one green. It's 454,457 and 514nm
Last picture is beam diameter after 28 feet. And as beam devergence calculator (Laser Optics Calculators) say
it's 1.1 mrad as in specification datasheet for this laser
I will put more picture soon!

Thats a nice bit of kit but yes a LOT of money for the goods. Still - these things are getting harder to come by. Argons are the bees knees. Sure they don't have the power of their diode cousins, but that beam profile.... to die for. :)

Wow, you got VK2FRO to post. 73, DE KL7FB. I looked on ebay for something like what you found, I couldn't find a complete unit with the control panel. Maybe I just missed it, has anyone?

I got another two brothers for 100€!
One work but very low output power. 1mW @ 6.5A :yabbem:
Second one does not work, it just clicking (igniter)
Both have 9000 hours

Turn the tubes into display pieces!

Do I need clean OC or just leave it? I don't wanna scratch OC...
Btw, igniter don't have spark gap.

OC looks a bit dirty, I'd imagine these have hard coated optics and should be fine to clean. Can always test at one edge of the mirror to be safe but I wouldn't expect any issues.

Usual HV warnings apply... Gas tubes can hold a charge, watch out for the anode, that sort of thing.

I have some sort of ’problem’
First of all, you guys must understand that I don't have any knowledge of optics except basic, and I apologize
for amaterization, I don't have optical table, and optics and mirror mounts etc...
In first picture I used some optics from camera for beam expanding, mirrors, more optics... and
set it to get the desired ’image’ projection.
To avoid poor ’image’ projection, I cleaned optics and mirror with Isopropyl alcohol
and fine fine so-called ’rice paper’ for optics (if you understand - that is called in my country)
and you can see in second image vertical lines?!?! :wtf:
In next picture I use prism to set wavelength (I set 514 nm green) and
rest of setup was like in first one. And again I got perfectly vertical lines.
So what is problem? I guess that this vertical lines come from multline coated optic from laser,
and guess multiline is not good for making holography...
Anyway if you guys know for this or not, I hope you enjoy

*notice that I rotate images so that I can upload on laserpointerforums.
It say that picture must be 800*600 and I can't upload 600*800 so rotated. Lines are vertical!

Have you tried rotating your expansion optics to see if the lines rotate with them?
