Few 462nm Builds and Sanwu X3 Beam Expander Review

AD...WOW...Your look is very unique....and just SOOOoooooo good to look at !!!!!! Amazing.....The " Turbine" look of the Heat sink is just perfect....never saw this before !!! And the use of the " Angle Eye" switch is also just perfect...IMNSHO !!!

Your post is just eye candy, well laid out....and the beam shots are da Schizz !!!!!

!!!OK.....I just started to investigate this build....but....
Where do you get the "Turbine" heat sink ?????

I just gotta have a few of those heat sinks to integrate in some of my builds !!!!!!!! They look....SO...I dunno....." Steampunk" and looking ready for business look !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To me....that turbine look just sez... Look out !!!!!...Photons comm'in thru....get the Flock outta the way !!!!

THANX for sharing !!!

Thank you Sir!
:thanks:

Here's link for 41mm "Turbine heatsink":
3 Pcs Round Shaped 41mm OD LED Cooling Fin

I milled Ø22,5mm x 30mm aluminium round bar and pressed approx. 23mm of it to cooling fin profile on bench vice (with thermal epoxy)..
I had to sand just little bit the 41mm cooling fin profile As Warsun X60 inner diameter is 40,5mm

...And If you will need to go bigger:
58mm Cooling fin profile:
58mm OD 28mm ID 40mm Height LED Light Cooling Fin

And if you need to go Really BIG:
70mm LED HEATSINK, STANDARD EXTRUDED

BTW..
I've always admired your work, and me thinks you'll need to complete your Cyan Cannon

I forgot to mention that originally I planned to build a active fan cooled Laser with that "Turbine heatsink" but haven't got enough time for that project...

Enough Time. ??? Enough time ??..Wadda ya mean....ya got 24 hours 'O' Daylight now...up in the Artic Circle !!! Get ta'gettin !! Wow....Winters must really be a Bitch !!! And...I complain lika baby about the Winters in Southern Michigan...Ha !

Speakin of time...I have just been swamped....between work, my Lumia projects and a custom build.....I just have not yet completed the " Cyan Cannon "....but....I will !!!

Thank you for your kind words ! My builds DO take...F o r e v e r !!!!!
Thank you for the link to the radial curved turbine style heat sinks....I just think they are da'schiz !!

Now that you are here !!! Please continue to share your passion !!! Your dedication is apparent and well noted ! To do custom builds/modifications....one must also be at least a " Hack " Machinist....or have access to a Machinist !! Great work....and I also admire the " Peak a'boo " look out the scope body !!

Now....just how to cram in a set of corrective optics...and still retain the " Turbine Heat Sink " mmmmm ???:thinking::thinking:

Later...CDBEAM=======>

Don't get us started ... The thought of winter is already depressing! :shhh:

Thanks ArcticDude for posting up some more information! :)

Thank you for sharing, based on the fast axis spot of 2.5 meters wide, I calculated the divergence of your M462 with the 3X expander on it to be under .25 mRad, very low.

Curious what the divergence of the M462 diode might be with a G2 type of lens, I have been trying to find the input clear aperture as well as the output lens diameter of that 3X expander through searching the Sanwu web site, but all I see is a picture showing a tape measure next to the input side. The input appears to allow a 3/8 inch wide beam which is just under 10mm, but what is the output clear aperture diameter? Can you tell me what the approximate diameter is on each side of the beam from your M462 laser pointer both into and out of the 3X expander while at infinity focus? Thanks :) Great photo's.

Yes, and M462 & Sanwu X3 diverage results in 10 meters seconds that (Got some pics at my home PC) :
Beam width / Fast axis at 0 meters (Beam Expander): 15mm
Beam width at 10meters: 17.5mm

Result : 0.24999 mRad

Thanks!
Need to wait till weekend when I get back to home. Unfornately I don't have M462 with me. My friend and I planned to do better beam diverage experiment later in autumn at local Golf course fairway (closed area).

OK, if that is a true 3x expander, then your input beam is 5mm wide. I am very impressed the unit has that low of a divergence, even with a 3X expander, 1/4 mRad is wonderful. Thank you for the info :)

Someone linked this post to a current thread so my posting is not necro and I am adding a link to parts as well, anyway while reading through it again I noticed your question, I think those turbines are worked down from extruded stock, I use the rounds with the gap and they work great, just drill out the center to 12mm and tap at the gap that serves as a stand....hmm I think some of these could be adapted to the 25mm copper modules.

Holy crap ! is that your laser hitting that bridge from that far away !:kewlpics: That must be something else to look through a telescope and see your beam hitting something that far away !?!
Mission: Summer solstice 10K

While visiting Southern Fennia with my wife I got little bit bored while others enjoyed traditional Midsummer Celebration.
I thought to put Sanwu X3 in serious test and try long distance pointing. M462 ain't probably best choice for long distance pointing, but I didn't have any other laser's with me.

Base: (middle of nowhere)

Thoughts:
I'm really happy with Sanwu X3, -Beam size at target approx. 2,5m x 1m. I Had to pay little price for 10K test, as My neck and hands are full of mosquito bites.
- But in other hand it was entertaining to watch mosquitoes accidentally to fly 1.7W laser beam. Zap!

:lasergun:

- Getting decent/focused beam shot on 10K distance : Very Hard
- Better Teleobjective > Celestron C90 Mak Spotting Scope + DSLR Camera
- Better Tripod with micro-motion control > Celestron 93607-CGL Tripod, Heavy Duty Alt-Azimuth Tripod Mount

10K Beaming with Sanwu X3: - Mission Accomplished!
