i have been talking to laser wave lately about goggles and have started a group buy on them. (check my sig)

and i asked about goggles for the 405nm wave length.

laser wave doesnt offer goggles for that wave length but with enough interest they would gladly make some and sell them to us.

what would you guys think?

and the price would be under 40 dollars.

i know im going to purchase some if we can get enough people interested!

i talked to bridge again tonight and he said we just need a minimum of 30 orders and he will make them.
 
Goggles schmoggles.. Have you heard of people loosing their vision due to playing with lasers? I don't think they're required as superstition goes. When you're old, you're supposed to be blind... :o
 
Got some goggles with a hulk ultra 400 and they cover 405nm, so no.
 
Ive got some for my argon, and they seem to cover just about everything other than red. Being more clear, and only blocking around 400nm might be better... but not worth paying for :)
 
There's no point. Most of the goggles that block green/blue already cover 405nm.
 
but can these green/blue goggles protect you from a direct hit in the eye? i dont think so.
i tried lighting a match with my bluray, wearing the green/blue goggles and the dot was very bright and sharp. did not feel comfortable/safe wearing these shades when burning with a bluray.
if this GB goes ahead, put my name in there i could do with a pair of 405nm blocking goggles.
 
agreed the problemt with green goggles are that they are meant for 532 and yes they may black some 405nm as well but i personally dont feel comfortable with protection that isnt up to par and these goggles would be

also got more word on the goggles and we just need 30 people and then the cost will only be $35.

Yeah, the color on those is nice. My argon goggles DO fully block UV (argon has lines that go down that low) but, they block everything between green and uv, so basically all you can see when wearing them is red.

so most argon people will not be interested.

also a little update it looks like we have a total of 9 (including another forum)

so we only need 21 more and we could start the group buy thread and i can get us all some goggles!
 
I feel comfortable wearing green eye protection for blu-ray because I know it works. My Opto green goggles block more blu-ray than green! I know they are safe because I can point a 100mW blu-ray through them for a while without any damage to the goggles (bleaching of the dyes)

I got my WL LaserShades for green and shone a 60mW blu-ray on to them and measured the output. The output was below <5mW (my meter can't measure lower than 5mW, I'd say it was more like 1-2mW). No LaserShades, and obviously it measured 60mW :)

Any goggles for green do an awesome job at blocking blu-ray. I would do more tests, but shining lasers through goggles isn't good for them, and all my high powered blu-rays are busted at the moment :-[
