Have you pressed the power button for more than 10 seconds? It looks like it's got a startup timer.

Yes I have pressed the button for more than 10 seconds.

When the laser was new it would turn on right away.

DX finally let me send the laser back today for another one.

Watch more carefully. The dark color you see on the bridge is his undershirt. He is wearing the light colored pants.
