A friend pointed this out to me: Sleep Cycle alarm clock

It's theory is sound, and heaps of people say it works. Gonna try it out on my iPod touch once it gets here with the rest of my stuff.

Anyone used it before?

I was looking at that app a while ago. It looks pretty cool, but decided to not pull the trigger because I didn't want my cell phone sitting by my head for 6-8 hours every night. :/
 
I love the idea but I think most people set an alarm because they have to wake up at a certain time regardless of how rested they are.
It would be very nice for days of the weekend where you have nothing special planned though.

The alarm clock I have now slowly ramps up the brightness of a light for 30 minutes before the set time. The last minute it gradually increases the volume of the alarm which can be one of many nature sounds or the radio.
It is a real life saver on days where you have to wake up when it is still dark outside.

I have also seen alarm clocks which fly or drive away, for those people who really have trouble getting out of bed :tired:

WOW iphones have uses? I dont know if it would work, but I can't wait till the Iphone7 with the laser ring gyroscope built in, :thinking:

I would think brain waves and sleep cycles are to much for a phone. I don't think the data they could have used was complete, and its a very complex issue to find the perfect time to wake up, then some ppl move in rem sleep some folks are paralyzed its just to many ifs, like if this works, it wont work for everyone.

It'll always make sure you are awake by your set time, it just has a 30 minute timeframe before that where it'll try and wake you in lighter sleep.

If you're worried about that, you can put it in airplane mode.

Oh, I guess I didn't read the information about it thoroughly enough. I thought it just noticed when you were moving in a way typical for light sleep and then decided to wake you up. In that case, it sounds like an amazing app if all the positive feedback is genuine. Who knew a smart-phone application could be that influential on making your day better?
 
Indeed, I can't wait to try it out with so many good reviews. 98% of mornings I'm a zombie!
 
Haha I take psych and the sleep cycle theory is well grounded. But having an iPhone use its accelerometer to determine from the intensity of movement, the type of sleep cycle is quite far stretched if you ask me. lol
 
This app is fantastic! I've used it for a month and it's made a noticeable difference. It does work well, there's a little sound test you take where put it down and roll over and it detects your motion. Also it works on temperpedicts.
