Please can somebody talk me through this?

I am able to upload images using the attachment manager, but I cannot get the images to embed in a post. If I am lucky they appear as thumbnails at the bottom. If I am unlucky (like today) I get nothing at all.

I have tried the FAQ but I cannot relate the instructions to what I see on screen.

This is the code I have tried:

And this:

And this:

But nothing seems to work.

It's driving me nuts... HELP !!!

Thanks

David

i have the same problem, there is space were the pictures must be but they dont appear.

First, you need to have the images loaded in some place that let you hotlink them in forums (like, as example, TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting , if you don't care to share them in a public place), or loaded here as attachments (if you don't want to share them in a public place)

Then you need to use the image tags around the link, without spaces

Code:
[IMG]http_yourlink_com[IMG]

like this (i used a small gif for not load the server :p)

For an image loaded on tinypic (in tinypic there is also a field already formed for boards image, just click it and copy/paste the ready code):
load your image, copy the corresponding code that the server give you (this one) and paste it here

whd7bm.jpg

result:

29mlkhz.gif

*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

For an image loaded as attachment, after you've loaded it, right click on the image link in the manage attachments field and select copy image address

attachment.php

then click the insert image icon,

attachment.php

paste the entire address (overwriting the "http" already present in the link field), and click ok

attachment.php

result:

attachment.php

Hope is clear enough ;)

Hi HIMNL

Many thanks for your efforts but:

1. I just tried uploading a new image. It uploaded ok using the attachment manager. However, when I right click on the image address, the only copy option is "Copy Shortcut". There is no "Copy Image Address" option.

2. Also, I don't seem to have the menu with the image insert icon. None of those icons show on my screen. I have noticed that under Posting Rules, "HTML code is Off". Is this relevant?

Thanks

David

Third test

attachment.php

Success;-)

The problem was that my edit settings were for basic text only. I changed them and now I have the insert image option which works fine.

Thanks HMNL for your help.

Edit: oh, ok, now it's working ..... then was your editing options just set in the wrong way ;)

The problem was with the editing options. I realised that when I saw your screenshot.

If you copy the direct image address, or any other image address, including the ones that you load here as attachments, you need to paste it in the "post image" window ..... if you instead copy from external host sites the "code for image boards" (or whatever is called in the english page, i mean the one that have already the IMG in square brackets), you just need to paste it in the text box with the rest of the post text.
