At first they actualy lowered the price from $26.31 to $25.8, now they raised it a bit again.
The laser is still definatelly worth it, even if you would have to buy two to get a really good one. But usually you don't.
I have three, and one of them is peaking at 72-76mW, averaging at 65mW for like five minutes at a time, before it drops below 50. Another was starting at 42 and climbing to 60 as it would heat up. Unfortunatelly i killed two of them (my mistake), and will be using them as hosts for 200mW green lasers, because they can provide great heatsinking, compared to pen lasers..
About the quality, it sometimes has some minor contact problems, which can be solved with some cleaning of the insides, and sometimes a solder "blob" or two on the switch.
Oh, and it doesn't really work that well on the included primary cell, especially since it sometimes comes half empty. But you can get rechargable 3V Li-Fe-PO CR2 cells (green) on KaiDomain as well, which really make the best out of this laser, without pushing it too far. Just don't use 3.6V rechargable Li-Ion cells (blue), because they can kill it instantly (but you can not get them at KD anyway). Make sure you buy a charger, that has a 3V setting. In the end you're gonna save money this way, compared to using primaries and the output can be almost double compared to the primary.
The KD50 is still one of my favourite lasers and the best thing - it's almost free. Well now it's almost free + $2.4..
