this is what it says,
United States Customers Only: due to new regulations enforced by the US FDA and PayPal, orders of >5mW lasers units shipped to the United States are no longer accepted. Orders that were previously accepted and unshipped will be cancelled and refunded to customers. This affects United States orders only.

Important FDA Warning for all >5mW Lasers: FDA advices all customers that these lasers may be purchased only if you are NOT a citizen of the United States and you are NOT currently living in the United States.

Pretty sure DX has said that for a long time, if your desperate for it then (I can't guarantee if one will do this) you could give the money to a middleman in the UK who would then order it for you and ship it off to you, as i said i don't know if anyone will be willing to do this.

Jeez, maybe I just wasn't paying attention before. I am looking for a decent green handheld now. Any ideas? Possibly one powered by an 18650?

check out novalasers.com or laserglow.com for high quality cni lasers
check out o-like.com for mid-quality lasers

If your looking for a DX type place that ships to the US. Try focalprice. They generally have the same type of stuff for about the same price.

I've ordered a bunch of the $15 50mw 532nm 18650 pointers from them without any problems, at least with shipping or customs.

The quality is about what you'd expect from cheap chinese lasers though. Pretty much all of the 6 i've got so far i've had to do /something/ to to make work reliably, even if it was just cleaning and lubricating the threads on the tailcap. Power output varies quite a bit from laser to laser. Most have been in the 25-35mW range but I also got one that only did 15mW and another that was actually overspec doing 62mW.

If you want something guaranteed to be decent quality though, stick with nova or o-like, rayfoss, etc.

Thanks guys I will check those out. I had the same feelings about Rayfoss and I have read some bad reviews about their stuff.

I LOL at DX saying due to FDA and PayPal regulations.

They never gave a damn about the FDA... It was PayPal leaning on them that forced the change. No one else.

And the funny thing is O-Like and others still take PayPal just fine. It's just that PayPal has so many customers that there's no way to check them all or know who they are unless they're big enough to get noticed, or someone complains and drops a dime on them.

Stupid question but are those higher power lasers really illegal in the US?

It is illegal to import a laser greater than 5mW into the US without it having certain safety features, same goes for using it in public.
