How any mA's should I set my driver to get get 150 - 185 mw out of a 405 nm diode ?

It depends on the efficiency of the diode, which varies. There is no exact number. The only way to tell what the output power of a laser is, is to test it with an LPM.

your diode would die very quickly, if not instantly at that output. 90-120mA is what we normally run the phr diodes at.

the phrs are low power. if you want 150mw i suggest getting a ggw 6x or higher.

michael.

You probably read correctly if you bought out off ebay. More than likely that is what happened

That is where I read it so i'm glad someone said something so i didn't break a diode

well glad you figured it out... don't be disappointed though. the phr is a great diode. set a wide beam focus and put on some uv glasses and search around your yard for cool objects.

Yeah, the PHR-803T will always hold a special place in my heart. The first real non-red "breakthrough" laser diode. No need to spend $40 for some PS3 diode that would die if you turned on your light while powering it up.
