I noticed that the yellow/orange laser laserglow and dragonlasers are selling is the same price. are these both the exact same laser they are selling?

im considering getting one of these.. if i do i will be sure to post pictures guys.

if these are the exact same product, do you think dragonlasers or laserglow will be more likely to give a laser more powerful than expected lol?

don't know if i should go with laserglow or dragonlasers here

Frank at Dragon says that they are not making the 2 mW pointer anymore -- Only the 5 mw version. A bit of $$ but if you get one - let us know.
5 mW of orange could appear brighter than a HeNe..

Mike

hey mike, yeah its a bit expensive

laserglow also has a Vega-5 yellow laser

Average output is 2-5mW with a peak of 6mw, for 489 dollars.

here is a link:

oooooooooooh up to 10mw  NIIICE! My choice would be the laserglow rigel. I am not a big fan of dragonlasers. I do however looove laserglow.

Yes, they both are selling 0.5-2mW 593.5nm yellows and Laserglow adds on with a >5mW one.

THe manufacturer does not make a >2mW yellow pen to my knowledge, if you ask me that's just more of DLs traditional BS (as legend has it, their headquarters actually uses BS for the foundation) to rip off anyone and everyone they can lure in.

BTW, if anyone is interested in discount used versions of either laser, I think I still have at least one of each. (For the serious laserist I have a Vega-10, laserglow rated to 7.3mW that I'm ready to sell)

I have the 0.6-2mw yellow. This is a beautiful color laser. Mine is almost as bright as my WL core when it has fresh batteries. You can check out some of my pics of it here. As for which company to buy from? I would probably suggest laserglow, becasue it will cost a lot less to send it back if something does go wrong!!LOL I think shipping is also cheaper, but other than that, it is the exact same laser.

We've got the Rigel-2 in stock right now, and they are pretty neat, especially if you've never seen a 593.5 laser before. (Let's not get into a yellow or orange debate here, it's 593.5 and that's the story I'm sticking with!) These lasers do not come in the pen style at 5mW, so I don't know what DL's deal is with those. If you want >5mW of yellow you have to go with a Vega! (Which are also in stock, hint-hint.)

do any of the orange ones have a visible beam like the green when it's dark? because then i'd *almost* be tempted...:)

Marianne: The yellow lasers don't really have a visible beam (without smoke or haze, anyways) because the human eye is a good deal less sensitive to 593.5nm light than it is to 532nm. Even with a Vega-10 you would require a little smoke or fog in the air to get a noticeable beam. You may be able to faintly make out the beam path in the sky at night, but saying that it makes a "visible beam" like a green pointer would be a little misleading.

That's not to say that you can't take neat pictures with one... With the right aperture and speed settings you can get great yellow-laser-beam pictures, and it's still a good deal brighter than a red of equivalent power. In terms of brightness/mW it's about halfway between red and green.

2.0-10mW yellow: http://www.laserglow.com/index.php?vega

Got any samples you wanna send out to me ? :P hehehehehe ! Cannot hurt to try, I suppose :P

Marianne: You're very welcome! Detailed answers to laser questions are my job! (Well, part of my job anyways...)
