Going for the spyder series look...

They have a CW green 200-300mW ($999), a pulsed green at 300-400mW ($1,099), and a pulsed blue at 30-60mW ($1,199).

The specs are a little :-? (range to the moon/mount everest/mars?) along with 'supremo' in the description of the Spartan GP but okay...

Hopefully they send some to the mods for reviewing soon.
 





In this day and age, NO excuse to make a TEM01 laser. That blew it for me right there. Plus, it looks like a merging of the BFG and a maglight (just personal observations)
 
Considering Dragonlasers past reputation, I think we're gunna have to see it to believe it. I, for one, don't want to be the guinea pig, although I would test a sample unit if they wanted to send one. All I know is I've tested DL units before with less-than-favorable results (call me biased or not, I know how to read the digits off my own power meter).
 
Not to mention the RPLs are a better deal. Why all the BS? A 30-60mW laser is a 30mW laser. DL looks more and more like WL every passing month (and they looked pretty damn bad from the start)
 
It looks to me like they are going in the WL direction... Just with cases that aren't as nice looking. "This model is a burning supremo and burns almost anything." ;D
 
wount even a 5mw reach the moon? its just you wount be able to see it but light does travel on forever doent it?
 
Yup... light will travel on forever until it is scattered so much you can't see it or absorbed completely by something. Their measurement using the moon, Mars and Mount Everest is kinda ridiculous. It's like they're copying the inaccurate and false methods WL uses to advertise and measure the power of their lasers. There is no way you can have a visible beam at 100 miles... It's the same thing with the huge 200-300mW power rating gap... Which is it? 300mW or 200mW? Does it mean someone could get one that averages at 200mW and someone else could get one that averages at 300+mW? Or is it average and peak measurements? It makes no sense.
 
And whats weird is they say the lower powered one can reach mars and the higher powered one can reach the moon, um is it me or is the moon alot closer than mars ::)

Sometimes the orbit of Mars gets a little close  --- Right ????
I've been a supporter of DL and I carry my 95 every day but I think these sellers are pushing to people who are "unenlightened".  
60 mW pulsed ??  What's the average power ??
On a clear night, the beam goes on forever in perfect conditions. I'd like to see it hit Everest through fog !!

It looks cheaply made and most likely is. Plus I have had a bad experience with them when they first started up. I'm always behind pseudo when it's comes to DL.
 
Depends. The quality of my first and last DL CNI laser was poor and seemed slightly different in shape and characteristics of my WL CNI. My first WL was faulty but they are generally good quality...shame about the crap service and the monkey running it! ;)
 
Ok, don't give that sniper a go-ahead on me right away, but I kinda like the design. Nothing fancy, looks solid as hell, and doesn't have that big window like spyder series. Nice size. Actually I like t much better than Spyder model.
Of course, performance is what matters, so I do hope someone reviews it here. True review, not two balloons pop on a cellphone video kinda review ::)

I hope its a worthy competition. . .
 
What a sham of specmanship.

WTF is this with "NEAR TEM00"?
Either it's TEM00 or it isn't, I guess they put it in there to sound good and allow lots of mode hopping...oops I mean NEAR TEM00.

Then I see that the pulsed/switched unit has a duty cycle, but the CW one doesn't....
That doesn't make sense, the pulsed laser is already being shut off (pulsed) for a good percentage of the time (they don't give the duty cycle of the 2Khz switching period).

I think these pulsed lasers are going to be a big seller with these kinds of sellers as
1. They are cheaper to make as most diodes can be over driven for very short periods.
2. They don't require lots of cooling as they are shut off a good percentage of the time.
3. The people buying them don't have power meters capable of measuring the true energy output of pulsed lasers, most meters will record the peak power of the laser or maybe the average output as if it were a CW laser, most won't report the energy (joules) of pulsed lasers unless it is one of the more expensive meters.
