Hi.
I would like some help as I have just purchased a spartan 1W laser and it did not come with a user manual as it was second hand.
My first question is, the laser has a end cap at the front of the laser which can be unscrewed, this cap is threaded on the inside, is it missing a lens and why is it threaded.
Also once the cap is removed the inside of the laser is also threaded that runs down to the diode, this part is either copper or brass.
My last question is is a beam expander worth it.
Thanks in advance.

Maybe the lens fell out of the assembly that screws on.

The beam expander is worth it if you need a beam expander.

I have tried to include a picture.

The cap is threaded but as i purchased it second hand I dont know if the cap had a lens. Or if any lens is missing. Works fine though.

Greetings,

The laser does not come with a lens. The aperture end normally has a piece that is screwed on and is not open as you pic is. The threaded is so you can connect a lens. Dragon is supposed to be developing a focusing lens that will focus at any distance and also increase the beam range.
Not likely to see that any time soon though. There is a video on their site that shows a focusing lens attached.

Your laser looks fine... the threading inside the barrel is there for the beam expander to attach too.
Lasers ''new'' from dl never comes with manual.

hope this helps.

Hello SM.
Nice video, and thank you. Last question is why is the cap that I have removed threaded in the centre (small hole).
Thanks in advance.

It's there so you can screw a little dust plug in there to prevent dust getting inside and on the diode/lens.

the most recent model of the 1 watt Spartan comes with the lens cap plug/cover.

Thank you sm. Im new to lasers. I live in Melb Australia and our legal lasers are no more than 1mW, so I feel kinda lucky I scored one of these lasers.
I am also waiting for a kit from Jay (18650), and look fwd to building my own.
Thanks again sm.
