Dragon Lasers 1W Spartan

I was referring to the "old" Arctic hosts mainly when I said its crap inside. Haven't heard anything new about the arctics in a couple of months and I'm glad if WL finally started to properly construct the arctics.

My Spartan gets quite hot when using it in room temperatures because the heatsink is full brass and makes really good contact with the host. I haven't kept it on continiously for over 8 minutes but after that it was quite hot.

Overall it probably depends on personal opinnion which is better. Me, and a lot of other people like the simplicity and lack of "unnecessary" safety features on the Spartan, but also there are a lot of people who love all the bells and whistles the Arctic has along with the lightsaberish host.

Because of this i orderd the spartan !!!

+ It has a simple torchlike look :D
+ It is much smaller than the arctic
+ It has no dumb smartswitch with a password :D
+ The Specs are exact what it is.... not like WL... WL are lying
+ The price ! Only 189 €
+ In Austria... YOU CANNOT find the Arctic batteries.... But you can find the Cr123a for the Spartan ;)

The only thing is that you have to buy are the batteries , googles etc....

Overall ... Spartan ( in mine opinion ) is the best laser

Cool.
I'm really curious if Dragon can pull off a beam expander or if one can be fitted in-housing as suggested by twhite. I'm not sure how it can be done with a bar shaped beam. My biggest gripe with all 445's is the poor divergence. The whole idea of a laser is a narrow, coherent beam. A 8" or larger beam at just 100 yards doesn't make me proud. I'd rather have a 500mW green with a tight beam than a 2W 445 with the current lens technology.

DragonLasers should release a new beam expander that fits the Spartan this year :)

(Thats what I've heard from their facebook page)

Yes !!

Quote from Dragonlasers Fanpage (Facebook)

"The latest word from our production people is we are getting close to a release date for the new beam expanders. I should have more information after the New Year holidays"

We will get a expander:eek:
We will get a expander :gj:

Also the "production people" DL is referring to is CNI lasers so I think someone should be able to send CNI a letter for more details (unless its something DragonLasers exclusive that CNI will only sell to DL)

Emm ... can someone give me ALL the specs from the spartan ?!
I cant find it on the homepage from dragonlaser.com

But the arctic has shown specs on their website -.-

The Spartan doesn't yet have "confirmed" specs thats why there is nothing on the page. Send a email to the DragonLasers support team im sure they will tell you the most accurate specs they have atm. (CONTACT :: Dragon Lasers)

As far as I know the power stays constantly over 1W even on a 10 minute run and the dot size at aperture is a little smaller than what the arctic has (about 4x3mm). The diverage is about 2-3mRad

I hope the beam expander will be released before eastern holidays !
Would be cool to focus this laser !

Emm... will the laser be damaged, if I would run it for 5 minutes ?
Cause i dont know the duty cycle

You can run it as long is it feels just warm :) That depends from a lot of other things but basically 5-10 mins. When it starts to feel too hot to touch turn it off (or if you want to be safe just turn it off when it feels "too" warm)

Thx , i should recive it in a few days

I will use my 3.0 V CR123a Varta Batteries

or is 3.2V better ?

and are the mAh important ?!!?!?!

as a example: my Varta Batteries have 1.600 mAh and 3.0 V

is this ok ?

The mAh is just the batteries capacity. The higher the capacity the longer they last. And it doesn't matter if the batteries are 3.0 or 3.2V but 3.2V batteries could cause the spartan to heat up just a little faster. According to the DragonLasers stuff the spartan can use batteries that are 3.0V-3.3V.

You can check my Spartan review for more info about the recommended batteries and what I use my self if you haven't already. Just click the link on my signature.

Emm.. do DL have holidays ?!
Because , when i mail to them , they dont answer me !
I want too pay with bank transfer ....
I send my order number and payment method to sales@dragonlasers.com
