Re: Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB...

I am going to get 2 diode in axiz module but my computer is crapy. So I will have to find a way to get them.

Re: Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB...

I just ordered two diodes and one of the AixiZ kits (with regulator circuitry), I hope everything went through alright.

Thanks for doing this group buy.

Re: Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB...

My mom tried to order 2 blu-ray diodes that were already placed in axiz module and the Google checkout kept saying: oops! Error in checkout...something about a cart problem. Could you please reserve two axiz modules with bluray diodes in them. My mom sent Google a letter to try to fix the problem. She's all worried about security for some reason.

Re: Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB...

I keep getting this edit when I try to order:

"Oops! TBD has sent Google a shopping cart with errors in it. We'll contact them to ask that they fix this problem. As this could be a temporary issue, you can go back in your browser to try checking out again. "

Re: Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB...

it's not your fault or your mom's fault. just wait for the system to be fixed :)

Re: Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB...

does anyone have official spec sheet link on the diode from this KES-400A module?
I need to check something and all my related favorites are gone.
Much appreciated.

Are you serious or are you joking?

That one would be great, yes, and i would love to have it as well, as it is VERY powerfull.. But unfortunatelly they are currently only selling them to Blue Ray burner developers, and at $460 each, probably in a larger amount too..

The only way we'll ever get close to those for a humane price, is when the BR burners become more widespread and cheaper..

There are some 4x Blue Ray burners group buys, if you want something more powerfull, but they also cost more than $400...

as it already comes in a can and we won't have to strip it outta the blu-ray lense assembly?
The BR LD is extreemelly easy to take out of the PS3 assembly, but if you don't want to do it yourself, choose the upgrade, where Daedal takes it out, and puts it in an AixiZ module.

I just had to disassemble two red LDs from a sled, where they were soldered into place.. With these BRs, you just unscrew some tiny screws and take it out.

Re: Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB...

Whoa that's very expensive.

Don't worry it won't be long before Blu-Ray burner diodes drop in price. Like I mentioned in the other thread, laptops are coming with Blu-Ray burner drives and the competitor HD-DVD is already dying out of the market. Even Microsoft has plans to make a Blu-Ray drive for their Xbox 360 hehehehe

Cheers.

I like that... ;D

Ok... so, the system is not wrong... here's what I see you doing wrong...

You need to have the diodes ordered... meaning, you can't choose an upgrade without having a diode to go with it... What you are doing is ordering the upgrades alone without ordering the diodes for me to work on ;)

Your total should be 4 KES-400A AND 4 option 1 upgrades... :)

Hope this explains it;

Milos, I have not seen an official specsheet for these units yet. They are not available anywhere... as far as I have looked. There are ones that are pretty much interpolating the data based on findings and adding up what is available in the specsheets from Nichia directly (you can get them from their website), but none are the actual sheet for these diodes :(

You may have seen this already, but if not, there's a lot of information here:
http://www.fineartradiography.com/hobbies/lasers/blu-ray/index.html
On that page, there is a link to a 'diode' page with some more information as well...

That is an excellent resource!

Thanx Jay :)

Re: Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB...

Im thinking of ordering but was wondering:
Can I combine these two options?
Salvaging a diode includes removind the diode from the lens assembly and placing it into an AixiZ module with glass optics, as well as attaching lead wires to the ground and the violet laser diode for easier and safer installation/opearion.
and
This kit includes all that is needed to connect the laser diode to a power supply and get it working safely. The items included are an AixiZ module for housing your laser diode, the regulating IC, resistor, potentiometer, capacitor, silicon diode for polarity protection, and wires.
