Thanks again. This brings me back to my previous question.

Is there a safe solvent that I can use on the Arctic Silver thermal adhesive and not damage the inductor or other components?
 
Thank you, Clif. It is the nature of our hobby, with individuals making such wonderful custom circuits, to not necessarily have as much documentation, field testing, etc with the devices that we push to such extremes.

I certainly do not begrudge you or the drive designer. It's part of the learning experience.

I will contact Jordan today, as he loves using the AS therm adh. on his heatsinks. Maybe he's found a good solvent.

I would not worry to much about it... keep the run times low take those cut leads off the driver and make sure the inductor doesn't touch anything in the host. A good rule of thumb is to touch the driver while it's being tested (carefully) on the chips and see how hot they really are the IC is the main thing we are trying to address in regadrs to sinking, not always is the case, stick around and read alot more of the past driver focused threads and you see how all the different styles and ideas folks from here use.

Thanks for the tips. The photos were taken in the "fitting" stage of the build. Fresh leads were properly soldered and insulated before any heatsinking took place. All exposed contacts were covered with Arctic Silver Ceramic beforehand as well.

I do not have a heatsink beefy enough to run this diode long enough to test whether the driver will fall out. I assume a test load would work. But, I wouldn't know how to test it exactly. I may just wind up tuning this one down for my 405nm and buy another one for this 445 build.
