not sure why people want these....or even why you'd need a waterproof laser, but i was looking at a host i got in the mail about a week ago and i think it will work great....

i'm going to run to the hardware store and get some pvc pipe (need to adjust the battery hold to accept 2xCR3 instead of the 3xAAA)

i'll post pictures when it's done....it's gonna have to be a LOC red laser since thats the only diode i have available.
here is the host anyways...

I so want a green waterproof laser for the lake...

I think this would be great.
I have a 100mW one of these that I take to the bottom of my pool all the time, so I can vouch for it's waterproofness.
Rayfoss
for $43, it's not a bad price for a waterproof green. :D

I was gonna use PVC pipe for mine, but i decided to modify the pocket pal laser cause the
back of it has a rubber cover (which can be made waterproof with some marine sealant).
Hope yours works out.:)

A waterproof laser enables you to dive with it, providing good underwater communication through morse code and by pointing at objects/creatures of interest.
A beam through water is clearly visible which is also nice, and the idea that dropping your laser in a puddle of water, swimming pool, etc. will not damage it is quite nice :)

Good luck with the project! With your skills I have no doubt it will be a great host.

Have you tried using different modules in it?

It's not really a good idea to point it at creatures... Especially over 5mW... =/

i got my waterproof greenie too.. the reason why i want waterproof is that when its raining i can still use my laser..
:)

and if i go swimming in the beach at night to go with some friends,,, well its reliable.

I wouldn't use it in salty environments...

You are correct random, it should have been "pointing NEAR objects/creatures of interest." You and Jerry are killing me pointing out all my shortcomings today :shhh: ;)

EDIT: Yes Niko, unless it is really very waterproof and rust-proof you want to keep this to swimming pools and fresh water lakes.

i never got around to finishing the laser. One problem i ran into was i need the plastic cover at the top, obviously to keep water from getting in, but these cheap plastic covers distort the laser and make the dot very ugly....

and then the diode finally crapped out lol, so i never bothers to finish it.

I got my flex drive yesterday though so i am working on that kit. the machinist will have my heatsinks done tomorrow and hopefully bestofferbuy will hurry up and ship out my batteries....paid for EMS shipping so it shouldn't take too long.

I am getting a few empty hosts this week, and they will take a 12mm (diam) module. So, I'll be puttin' a bluray in there,... basically I'm still working on it.
