DIY Red laser driver that run with single cell?

I know a famous 317 Red laser driver out there just wonder if any other circuit that can drive the diode with one cell (3.7v)?
 





Hi M,
yes there's Lazeerer's Xdrive's that are awesome drivers. You just have to know the input current requirements for the diode you are using. The 700 mW Osram and the 500mW Mitsu will use 1 or 2 3.7V cells.

I know Xdrive is good but I enjot to do the thing myself. Just wouder if any single li-ion driver for red laser out there? I plan to use it with standard 650nm laser with case pin negative.

you can use 1x 2r2 ohm and 1x cap 10uF. yeah! good luck

Wait ... just a resistor and a cap? That's NOT a good driver. LM317 or some equivalent is the way to go if you want to DIY. I guess you could start messing around with switching ICs though.

Weren't there pointers a few years back that ran on one AA or AA with some weird boost driver? I'm talking new wish ones and the greens had really bad divergence I think.

Anyway try the LM317 for your first build and watch static electricty it's starting to be getting bad where I live this time of year you don't want to fry the diode.
 
I recently picked up a few flashlight drivers that RHD had recommended way back that are very small and have 3 modes that work well with an LPC-826. Would have to look them up.
