DIY PIC based laser spirograph

what is the benefit of 3 mirrors instead of 2, can you still make a triangle with 2 mirrors??

Three mirrors give you more complex patterns (especially if one of them can be reversed). You can have a "two mirror" system any time you want, by stopping one of the motors. You can have a time tunnel by stopping two mirrors.

Peace,
dave

3 mirrors kind of give it a third dimension...

imagine you have the normal shape made by the 2 mirrors that spins counter clockwise and clockwise then you add one mirrors and it makes it look like it also spins top to bottom like 3-d

Nice job :D, but are we obliged to use a chip? can i use 3 motr with voltage regulator to control speed of rotation? will i have the same figure like you using 3 mirror in this configuration (no chip, microcontroler ect) ??

If you don't want go digital you don't have to.
Sure if you hook up motor to any kind of voltage regulator or 555 based PWM controller you'll achieve similar effect.
BTW. I supply DIY electronic kit including PCB and preprogrammed microcontroller upon request.

No problem. I can make control board, or whole device. Is somebody interested?

Awesome project! I would like to try to make one... I too would be very interested in your control board, or even the whole device!

My unit arrived today. It was very well packaged. It is also smaller than I had expected. This is going to make a very nice, compact spiro

Thanks

Peace,
dave

Just saw your spirograph, it looks GREAT!! :D

Could you PM the price for one if you are making the available?

THANKS!

I got mine the other day! :)

AP, your unit is awesome. You do very clean work!

Your price is not reasonable. (too low) It is easy to just buy your unit, and then do some simple modifications (if even desired)...

Nice easy mod for a cheap DX greenie! :D But it would be even easier to through a 50mW Standstone11 module in there! ($26)

It's also easy to make it portable with a cheap Radio Shack project box and some size 'C' battery holders for a 9 volt supply...

I find that with this 3 mirror spirograph, I like the speed and control of the mirror motors. With such a variety of patterns, I find that the slower speeds are better! (IMO)

Thank you for an excellent projector, at a very low price.

New version of PIC based laser spirograph.

Along with auto and manual modes of operation modified controller can store your
favorite patterns in internal memory with press of a button and replay them as a slide show.
Up to 80 patterns can be stored and replayed as endless sequence.
Time of displaying single pattern is programmable and can vary from 3 to 60 seconds.
Also there's manual step mode when next pattern in sequence is triggered by a button.

New SMT controller board.
Main switched voltage regulator eliminates needs for heatsink.
Controller supports 5V and 12V fans and low power (2 - 4V) laser modules.

Upon request I can provide assembled controller, acrylic mirrors and other related stuff.

I just ordered a completed one from AP_Digital_light. It's the new V2, cant wait for it to be finished.

He does nice clean work from what I've seen in the photos...
What does the complete unit go for...?
