Dirt Cheap Laser to buy

When it comes down to it you've got to make your own decision, o-like.com and lazerer.com sell quality lasers, beyond my recommendation of a reputable site, it's up to you and your budget ultimately.

- Also, another affordable wavelength is 405nm (violet) but beware, 405 lasers aren't good first lasers IMO, I have been disappointed at all my 405s, and I love all lasers.

I would say, leave the laser.. do something yourself, Diy.. this is why most of us still come here.. just saying!

$50 isnt enough..
Good safety goggles = +30 dollars

And 200mw red is about 50 dollars...

Say him to get $50 more :D

just noticed that lazerer has got the 400mw 405 in stock!
LZMG - 405nm 400mW Violet Laser Pointer Water Proof
i remembered when we were all waiting for o-like to get them back in stock :)
too expensive

i saw those lasers, there are a little bit expensive to me.
thank you anyway.

^your plan is flawless, except last i checked DL charges 20+ dollars for US shipping... Just keeping said budget in mind.

The first laser is definitely better. The host is a newer design, and the power is higher.
I got one of those 200mW reds from o-like when they first came out (see link in my signature), and I don't think they are worth it. There are newer more efficient diodes in the new lasers.
By the way. I would get these glasses for red protection: Link
I have a pair, have tested them, and they protect very well against red lasers.
$29 for glasses and ~$53 for the laser is ~$82.
