So I have a micro flex driver, an 803t br diode and Aixiz housing.

I did everything right and set my driver to 120ma.

Fired up the diode and there was beautiful light.

It ran for no more than 20 seconds before I turned it off, the housing didn’t even get warm...

I went to turn it back on and then I saw a much smaller, dimmer dot surrounded by fuzz!

What happened???

might have been too high a current for that particular diode. each 1 is different.

i guess you live and learn.

so maybe ill start at 80ma???? how do you know when you can push one up some more?

BTW thanks andrew, Those diodes came fast!!!

1st)  Check the batteries (connection and voltage)
2nd) Check that nothing has fallen onto the diode
3rd) Check your connections and for any shorts
4th) Pull the module and driver free (stretch out the wires) and turn on the power again
5th)  Remove the diode and check the driver

If everything else checks out, you probably killed the diode. You probably didn't hurt it with the 20 second burn, but you might have overheated it (or damaged it mechanically) when removing it from the heat sink, when removing the PCB, or when soldering it to the leads.

Sorry,

Peace,
dave

**EDIT** OR sometimes these diodes just die for no apparent reason.

well i guess it was a bad diode...

RIP little guy, for your 20 second life was a bright one :'( lol

i have anoter one running at 115ma right now and it lights matches pretty well. i cant wait to start turning it up some (after i show all my friends and co-workers). :D

P.S. Thank you everyone! These Things Are Awsome!!!!!

My driver had something wrong and it was driving it at 380mA instead of 119mA and it lasted 50 seconds but must of been putting out 300mW 8-)

did it stop working  :-?

no, it worked fine for 20 seconds. infact i didnt know anything was wrong untill i turned it on for a second time. then it was very dim (maybe 1/4 as bright) and a lot of fuzz. so something happend while it was off or cooling down.
