I think Chinese sellers pump up the price to crazee figures if they are going on vacation etc.

They must get cheaper rates for continuous listings otherwise they'd just take em down.

But that is a good one. Guess he didn't want to take any chances at $1,000 just incase :)

Fairly typical.. Sell item cheap and make the money on the shipping fees (which ebay doesn't take a cut out of) The $1 item with insane shipping is actually against ebay's ToS.. So you can get the listing pulled pretty easy if enough people complain.
