IMO the marks don't matter, they give it a nice look plus I agree with what jib said:

most of the tiny scratches won't be noticeable as much as on a polished one :)

Hey if thats what you're happy with then all the power to you. My old Jayrob heat sink was buffed to a mirror finish. I didnt have any issues with finger prints, and scratches. Also if it is polished, then there are no scratches. :crackup:

You guys sound so funny saying "I like scratches." :crackup::crackup::crackup:. I've never met people like that before. But I guess it takes all types.
 
I think the finish suits the host pretty well :). I also have some of jayrob's work and its always impressive :) I know what scratches they're talking about and some finishes do look nice just left natural. They're tooling marks.

With use though, scratches appear from natural wear

And your right if done well they are no scratches left on a nicely polished piece :beer:


But I completely understand what you're saying Tech, for a premium service and premium product should be delivered, regardless of the "taste" of the person receiving the product, Especially when they're a lot of members on the forum that have very stict budgets they have to adhere to in order to get lasers or the accesories to enhance them, myself included.

I'm satisfied but for the same service rendered they may have expected more.

Ra1nfade seems more than happy with his focus adaptor, why do you keep so strongly voicing your opinion that it should have been polished? Im sure if Ra1nfade wanted it to be polished he would have asked! Many people prefer the rough brushed-metal finish over the chromish-polished finish....

And I know flaminpyro would polish it for free if Ra1nfade changed his mind later about the finish.

sorry for the derailment, but i don't remember seeing a build thread for that xml100.

did you use the pcb tail switch or did you throw in a clicky. i am working on a xml50 and i ruined my pcb. so i was wondering what it would take to throw in a mr.clicky. i assume just get a silicone tail cap cover and machine a groove for an internal snap ring????
