Crazy question about lasers for weed control

JB...You got me laughing so much I'm having trouble typing this...
Electrically controlled trained goats with laser beams ?!?!!
Mwaaaa haaa haaa haaaaaaaaa !

(Doctor Evil is a pussy ! ANYONE could get a shark to do his bidding. But only someone truly maniacal would ever think of using GOATS !)

Solar-cell blankets...>snort<
Safety goggles....fitted for goats...hee heeee heeeeee
smoking weeds.....HAAAAaaaa haaaa

ooops - didn't notice that - maybe "Billy the Laser Goat" is enjoying his job too much (re: "smoking weeds").

Use this technology to change the identity of a mosquito to a weed. LOL

I still say Bob-O-rino is pulling your collective legs.

That would explain his low post count. Killing weeds with lasers sounds like something one would say with a bong in one hand--just MHO--

That idea belongs in a Cheech and Chong movie-rotfl.

Either a troll or... Anyone worried his laser turret will be targeting things other then plants?

@millirad: I love that mosquito killing video..anyone know what laser is used to?

Some animals are attracted to antifreeze and will gulp it down. It will form crystals in their kidneys and do other nasty things. They will die a very PAINFUL death. Cats in particular are always dying from it, from lapping it up from puddles in parking lots and driveways.

If you use antifreeze for weed control, use only a necessary amount, and don't leave antifreeze puddles.

Unless your dealing with those pesky rats....i mean cats that keep digging in the trash.
However, I do believe a .22 bullet is cheaper than a bowl of antifreeze. It's quicker and less painful as well.

LOL... It is POSSIBLE to do this, but not practical for a whole host of economic reasons.

I know there are farm tractor attachments that have IR cameras and can differentiate between weeds and the crop plants, and then there's a long row of electrically controled pesticide jets that will blast just the weed as it passes under the farm implement. This way it just blasts each weed with a small spurt, instead of saturating the entire field.

It's possible to make an image system that can differentiate between weeds and crops, and it's possible to get a laser to fire on those weeds, maybe an array of optical fibers to lens outputs. Kind of like the "laser printers" that instead of a single scanning laser, had a long bar of LED's instead. However, even a very powerful laser would not reliably kill weeds, because upper leaves would disperse the beam, so would smoke. And even if you could get the system to cut the weed off right at ground level, most weeds will grow back unless poisoned, or the entire root has been pulled out.

You seem to have quite a cat problem. I remember reading in another thread that you laser the cats away

IMO in light (no pun) of the fact that bob has not posted again I think this is a troll thread. And thus Bob is just wasting our time.. just ask any gardener- if you dont get the roots you are wasting energy & time.

I also don't like cats because they shit in my garden and my little daughter plays with the poo...that makes me very angry *argh*
But i would never use antifreeze to interrupt their bad behavior...:eg:
Instead i use soundmodules which scare them away with high frequency tones
