I suppose this sounds like an idiotic question, but i seem to be missing something:

How do you set LFI to use a soundcard as its output device? I can select several ports under preferences, but those dont make any sense to me. I'm using the one compiled for EzAudDAC on vista, does the latter have anything to do with it?

The LFI player EZaudDAC .exe file can only use a soundcard by default, so as long as that is the one you're running it should already be looking for a sound card. To set it to use the proper card you need to go into the LFI player program directory and edit the EZAudDAC.ini file. You'll see near the top of the file an option to set the soundcard number. You might have to cycle through however many sound cards are in your computer until you find the one you want.. If your computer has 3 sound cards, then try 1-3 until you find the right one. You need to save the .ini file and restart LFI player each time you make a change.

If you keep having problems, Email Mike, he wrote the software and would love to help...

He likes to know when it gets new users...

Thanks guys, its not the program, its just me being dumb... I changed the sourdcards around, which may have helped, but more stupidly:

I just opened some ilda test file assuming it would work. Turns out that the laser is 'off' by default under preferences... results in a nice display on the window, but no output signal.
