Hey im attempting to build a phr labby with a rkcstr microdrive.
can someone tell show me how to assemble my dummy load, i have a 1 ohm 2 watt resistor and 10 1n4001 diodes.
also on the microdrive how do i short the cap?

Here is a picture I got from a post from HIMNL9 for a blu diode from here http://laserpointerforums.com/f51/building-test-load-help-43762.html
even though they are talking about red diodes mostly, i think the only difference is that blu need 6 diodes instead of 4.

to short the caps connect the + and - parts were the diode would attach with: wire, solder, metal chunk, spirals of notebook, knifes, lighters, pistols, bullets, swords, metal trophies, metal shard things, pens, laptops, food containers (metal ones), and flamethrowers and/or grenade launchers (point away form you).

Actually 1 more question, is the test load different for testing ir diodes for 532nm green?

You can use the setting for red diodes if you want to drive IR diodes. Theyre at about the same voltage.

@ toogoofy: my schematic was for a person that had only 1/4W resistors ..... if he have a 1 ohm 2W resistor, only one is enough ;)

This would also account for any imperfect tolerances in the resistors. You'll be taking the average resistance of 9 resistors rather than just relying on one. It's SO important for it to be exactly 1 ohm otherwise you're current measurement wont be perfect. Even if the resistor is off by 1% that could mean a current measurement error of 5mA if you measure 500mV across the resistor.

alright i hooked up my test load to my full color driver driver and checked the draw on the 2000k setting and it read 80 while the 2000m setting read 21. i had the pot turned all the way up and the max it can go is 459ma. so for a red diode it should be 2.9-3.0, and if im reading my meter correctly im getting 80ma at 2.1v.
