Comparing the divergence at 80 feet with 445nm, 520nm, 532nm and 638nm

Yes even though divergence is pretty band in real life the red beam outside at night is still stunning. The big lonf dash kinda gives it a unique look. Also the beam looks really full at night. Although a single mode 1W plus 638 would be quite amazing :)

Thanks for the nice comparison. The 520 doesn't really look much different than the 532nm. I've always thought the 520's were much worse or had twice the divergence, but I don't see it here.

the divergence of this 520nm diode is quite amazing !!! its actually about 4 times better then the 532nm

I am not sure about the divergence being comparable to a 532nm any more.

Good comparison, I never imagined that the 638nm will look like this compared to the others!

the 532nm is 100mw
the 520nm is 215mw
the 445nm is 1700mw with 3 element
the 638nm is 980mw

Something must be wrong with my 445 then. The 'dot' is about as big as that red line, but twice as thick as the 445 dot (even bigger tbh). At 1 meter...

It's more like a flashlight than a laser, surely it can't be correct? Just received it in the mail this morning, at work now so can't test/show pics.

It's SF501b 1.4w so shouldn't be that bad.

You um... You sure you have the lens in?

awesome just awesome. I love the "red" diodes for the color... The single modes are obviously much better!!!! Thanks for sharing this

Yep, sounds like a normal multimode red laser! They have a huge wide line output compared to blue multimode diodes.
