I took this picture comparing 4 different wavelengths and there divergence and thought it turned out pretty good. I lined up my 445nm, 520nm, 532nm and my 638nm laser shinning on a shed door 80 feet away. I know before buying these lasers i was looking for a divergence comparison picture but could not really find any so i took my own :) and yes the divergence of the 638nm is really that bad but its an awesome color though so i dont mind

From left to right is 532nm, 520nm, 445nm(m140 diode), and 638nm(new oclaro 700mw diode)

Holy moly, that oclaro looks like it's got a line filter installed? Thats a wonderfully informative comparison! Thank you!

I'd love the see a 445 5 watt dot in that mix. If it's anything like the Oclaro then I might have to pass.........

It's not as bad, but worse than an old gen 9mm 445nm

Whoa... those olcaro diodes look even worse than the mitsu diodes. Euuhhh.

they are nearly identical, I've owned both. I think the oclaro has more symmetrical wings though

No line filter lol. The dash is 3 times as long as i was expecting. I thought it would be maybe double the length of the 445nm dash. I will say this however with in 10 feet the spot/dash is so intense i cant even look at it. It strains my eyes more then my 200mw 520nm and 1.7w 445nm. That makes sense because Tmack was telling me the longer wavelengths are reflected more and the shorter are absorbed more which is why 405nm burns best. Just placed an order for eagle pair that cover the red wavelength as they are needed !!! Already have my eagle pair that cover the over wavelengths :)

not sure about that. shorter wavelengths are more energetic, which is why gamma rays will devastate you while radio waves will not. visible light is a pretty narrow range, but I suppose 1W of 405nm might burn ever so slightly better than 1W of 650nm, it would be difficult to measure this difference, even once variables have been eliminated

Maybe the 1w 405nm burns better because its single mode and the focus point is much smaller then the focus point of the 1w multimode 638nm?

red was goin to be my next 1w+ laser but whoa, might have to rethink that one! thankz for the comparison!

If you had a Mitsu next to the Oclaro, you would see just how much worse the Mitsu actually is, as far as
the splash goes. Divergence is about the same, but Mitsubishis have much worse splash.
