I'm not so sure that's possible... 589nm isn't necessarily easy to produce...

With 473nm it is entirely possible however ;)

I might want one of those eventually but right now my collection really needs a yellow, and it's got to have a decent beam!

About that 1W 532nm news: if it's going to happen and the output is guaranteed to be at such a level, CNI's marketing attitude is an example other company sellers could be inspired by:). Honestly, there's a good chance enough people/buyers are interested in this potentially groundbreaking GB deal...
 
A little question about 589 and 473nm DPSS.
I heard they are less stable than 532nm and have a more volatile crystal .
So... how durable are they?
Has anyone broke down before within the service life expectation?
 
Yes, there is actually one person's 473 which recently broke, I forget his name but it's around here somewhere. They're less efficient than 532nm, but they are the same DPSS module formula. 808 doubled, etc. If the crystal EVER gets knocked out of place, you'll have a really bad time. Refrain from dropping DPSS lasers at all costs.
 
I've never heard of a death-by-crystal-degradation on a 473 or 589, but the alignment on those need to be perfect, meaning a drop is enough to knock them out of alignment and lasing alltogether. I have had a 473 drop to it's death.

Edit: wait yeah one did recently... though I'm not sure if it's a diode or driver issue yet.

Very true. Correct me if I'm wrong but 473nm uses an LBO crystal instead of a KTP crystal. And as far as I'm aware yellows can have shelf life problems. It's one of the reasons laserglow doesn't offer the PGL-3-C 589s. The didn't meet the quality and life expectancy limits.
 
I counted 9 interested forsure and 2 maybe interested based on the price. I'm a 90% if I have the funds available by payment date.
