CNI 800mw 532nm portable w/ adjustable focus quote

I think 520 is better, just because dropping the 532 is more risky because it can break more easily, but aside from that 532 is just plain awesome.

Hey bandlasing, good choice with J/L.
On another subject, double posting is generally frowned upon here, if you have additional info. to add after posting, just use the "edit" button at the bottom.
I'm thinking some guys are going to be dispensing some red soon.

Hey thanks for letting me know that BowtieGuy. Learning the rules as I go. Much thanks;)

At the power you are talking about, I doubt you could tell an appreciable difference in brightness between 520nm and 532nm. Either one will be insanely bright, so it comes down to beam specs and color.

520nm will have the infamous bar instead of a dot, with a thicker beam. When side by side, 520nm is a deeper green, or "forest green". The 532nm looks "sickly" green to me, slightly yellow. However this can be unnoticeable unless you see both wavelengths side by side.

By the way going with jet lasers now for this awesome purchase. Now to decide on 520 or 532nm.

Jetlasers sounds like an excellent choice; but if I were you I would go for 1w of 520nm. This is only 80mw of 520nm.

Tell us what you decide.

It is looking more and more like I am going to go with the 520nm 1 watt from jet. ^ to you good sir check out jetlasers.org they have really good lasers

Edit: also will be posting pictures as soon as I get it.
Also I really love the color of your 520nm really is a true green. Thats only 80mw imagine 1watt of pure fat beamed goodness. I can not wait . Now that I am thinking about 520nm what about sci-fi lasers 1.4watt 520nm arcane? I think thats what its called.

There is no IR emitted from the 520nm diode. It's all green! :D

Is there any IR or is it mostly light?

If you are talking about jet lasers 532 im prttey sure they have a good IR filter in their lasers

Edit: does anyone have any experience with sci-fi lasers 520nm 1.4watt arcane?

So would be just as good, if not better than mass produced laser companys. I have a hard choice to make here I want the best bang for my buck for sure.

the SciFi Arcane 2.0 is a good lower cost choice if you don't mind it's limitations---short duty cycle 3 minutes on, no AC adaptoer input, no internal focusing, no beam expander, plain loooking host.

With LPF discount the JetLasers 520nm 1W is also a good fuller featured choice. email Gray at JetLasers - jetlasers@gmail.com - ask him what is the best prce he can do---you can also ask about 532nm which has better beam specs. and is a little brighter at same output power. Aask ab out duty cycle of both--the JetLsers PL-E Pro host is worth the extra $s IMHO.

I have been talking with him already. I am going with jet lasers 532 800mw forsure. What do you mean by internally focusable?

Nice choice - awesome host, great laser, brighter per mw than 520nm, long duty cycle - professional quality - best of the best.

If you have the extra $ get one of the beam expander too.

What I meant was PL-E Pro features internal focus mechanism---you just rotate a collar to focus--lens and mechanism move inside the host--- host length remains the same.
PL-E Pro is only laser on the market that has that feature---is expensive to make--with all others, when you focus you change the length of the host by unscrewing the crown end to move lens farther away from the light source to focus

Be extremely careful with it--not a toy --very dangerous laser--take proper safety measures---by a good pair of laser goggles. Several good ones are available here: Safety Because JetLasers come standard with a good IR filter you can used the goggles that don't filter IR just 190nm-540nm. THe pairs that filter IR also limit visible light to 20% or 30% and great goggles but darker.

You have no idea how bright it will be---is other worldly bright.

Thank you very much I will treat it with the upmost respect. I learned my lesson a few years ago with a cheap overspec 532, at the time I had no idea about the ir that it put out. It put a perment blind spot in my left eye, even tho I had 532 goggles on they did not have the ir protection. Hard way to learn. I now have two pairs one with ir and one without.
