100mW is only 500 bucks or so from CNI complete. so buying just the head and using their own driver lowered the price alot i'm sure if they're ordering them en masse. (which im sure they are)

Heh, wherever I look I can never find lab lasers (even 10mW greens) for less than thousands of dollars :crackup:

it would be labeled as lab equipment and would now be able to be powered up by customs agents. also from what i've been reading handhelds over 5mw are illegal in canada but lab lasers are not.
someone correct me if i'm wrong

3 questions for you:

3) can any 5 volt psu work? I have a spare computer PSU that has some 5 volt outputs

shipping to canada is no problem, just add $10
and a computer psu should be fine, unit needs about 10 amps just to be safe.

I didn't charge blarg anything extra, I took the hit on that one. I was simply making a comment that future sales to canada are $23 for shipping.

as for our arrangement I included extra goodies which more than made up for the extra $11 in shipping costs you incurred. I felt that was more than fair.

IIRC here is what I remember about these:- the come form a device(like a DNA sequencer) and get pulled after a certain number of hours have been logged- OR sooner if they drop some in output- thus MANY get pulled and replaced so that is where they come from and why so cheap- these are very likely going to be offered continously-- many other devices that once used Argon gas lasers now go with dpss 473 blue instead --like confocul microscopes- and very high speed printers

AFAIK lab lasers have NO PROBLEMS being shipped anywhere

True its not very fair BUT its better to guess than say NO to shipping outside CONUS-- sending another 3$ is not a big deal

anyone who gets these- take care to avoid touching the Driver board i got a good shock brushing my hand too closely. I have two of these and the cheaper was sold as parts/ repair only at $35usd and it turned out to work as good as the one i paid (IIRC) 85$ for at Greedbay--~7 to 10 mW as is. this is a good deal even as parts only- TY to the OP and a +5 rep bump is coming:thanks::thanks:
