Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

We all loved them! Thanks Matt! +1 for you:gj:

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

"No offense, but I think those hosts look terrible"

Each to his own, with a few shots of single malt, they should begin to look nICE! :pUp

UPDATE: Saw them @ Home Depot for $4.95 a pair. Unless they make them in different sizes, the ones in HD are somewhat big, and ungainly. A smaller version might be more portable. Und attractive. :o

Gotta agree with you, they (big uns) are unattractive.

they should be fine with a nice paint job.....

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

I like em, i only bought 11 pairs anyways. I am hoping they are small wide enough to mount a rkcstr driver sideways and use 2xCR2 like whatsupadrians kits in the laser pro shop....
the site says they take 3 batteries but says nothing else.....so ia m assuming it's made for 3xAAA
if i can't get the rkcstr to fit i'll just have a massive heat sink made and make it fit a flex drive.

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

I can't tell at all if these new hosts are metal or plastic? I would think they are metal but they look like plastic.

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

that would be horrible if they're plastic....
i'm hoping for anodized aluminum.

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

well lets keep our fingers crossed:eek:

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

i looked it up, they're aluminum....

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

Oh and Matt I was wondering, do you machine your own heat sinks, order them through the mail, or go to a shop in town?

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

I go to a shop where a guy makes them for me....although he doesn't have any cnc lathes so they're all made by hand, but i still get a decent deal when i get a batch of 20 or so made....at least cheaper than buying them individually online.
I usually explain what i want and leave a host with him and he makes them for me.

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

Man, with all these acronyms, it like learning Xinese.

But, fun. :san:

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

Got both of mine, how do I focus the beam? It's pretty wide and I cannot screw it down any more. One is about the size of a quarter from only a few feet away. They do not seem to have anymore adjustment in them? Are they both defective? They are the GGW 6x version.

turn it the other way.... if you turn it far enough it should focus. Although I cant say for sure as I do not own one.

Re: FS: $60 - Complete Lasers - 100mW BR/ 240mW Red

Yes, unscrew the lens and it will begin to focus to infinity and then start getting large again.

For up close burning you'll unscrew the lens almost to the point it comes out.

On the working pointer (GGW), turning the lens outward only makes the spot bigger, it is most focused when screwed in all the way. About the size of a quarter when shining against the wall...Also the modual is lodged in the heat sink good, so I am not able to slide it forward in the heat sink body as someone suggested.

The other one of them seems to have an even worse problem. It constantly flickers, seems like a bad connection or defective something or another, unless someone has another tip for me.
edit: Ok so I thought it might just be a bad connection or switch etc. I put the head of the one that flickered on the body of the other light, it turned on, flickered worse and then went completely out...

edit: Oh Wait it just turned on again, but its flickering super bad and shuts off I guess it is a dud... :(

Can I send these back?
