Diffraction gratings used to separate light are made up of lines on a mirrored surface or on a piece of glass or plastic that you use, sort of, like a prism to separate the light. You can get these kinds of gratings in different lines/mm. Like 300 lines per millimeter, 500 l/mm, 1200 l/mm, etc. For a loose grating used for this purpose, I prefer 1000 l/mm.

Alright! Finally I found one similar looking to the 532nm I ordered at somewhere aside from later images on a page on Wish.
Still not very informative(no description) and VERY full of misinformation(like 30,000mW, which Ifound HILARIOUS) found it on HTPOW (which I hear horrible thing about) but again, I'm not expecting an awesome (or even good) laser, but I am just curious, now that on have found another page with it, if anyone could tell me more about it. Would it be appropriate to subtract 2 of the zeros? I heard other people after I searched LPF for more about HTPOW to subtract one of the zeros, but I still think that is WAYYYYY absurd, so 2 may be more appropriate(300mW). I am not really expecting it to be anywhere over 100mW but I would be stoked if it did end up having a bit more power? They are trying to sell it for a laughable $846.18
So anyways, thanks for your time, any new information you can find on this laser would be much appreciated.

Io

P.S. Is there a photo gallery anywhere on this site where I can search around and try and find more photos and descriptions of it?

What you just posted looks like Thor H2 Silver version to me. That one, however, takes in 2x 26650 and the green is 1w. Look up Model 890 on Laserpointerstore, I think that's the one you got. If it's 532nm, it's either 50 or 100mw. The 50 one goes for 20$ there, whereas the 100 one is 35$.

I as well thought it looked like an H series. The H2 doesn't come in 532nm and not takes an 18650 (let alone a single one )which is what mine takes, 'Tis a 532nm.
Will check out the site in a sec.
edit: the 890 has squares around the center towards the bottom.

Alright
Sorry for the wet noodle beating from the other members, just ignore him.

If that is the one you bought from Wish, it's the most generic, cheap unbranded knockoff you can get. I can pretty much guarantee it's about 100mW. If you take a picture of the dot in a dimly lit room when you get it, I can tell you more accurately.
Cheers!

Ps, it's not double posting since it's almost a week apart 😉
Alright! I received my cheap chinese 532nm thor knockoff today. Here, the first picture is of the dot, as you asked to see (but I'm sure we won't figure out much from it) and some other photos of the actual pointer. One of the actual device and the other of the warning label of the laughable written output.
It seems like it's probably below 50mW to me, but I don't know this type of stuff very well. It appears to have no adjustable focus. It just unscrews the top cap.
The star caps seem to be plastique but make some amazing patterns, Probably my favorite part of the laserthus far.

More pointers to come on this post. I have a 450nm laser coming soon too so I will keep you all posted
When I receive some cash, I'll probably send one or two paul so I cam get the legit output on his LPM.

Thanks all!

At least they're not lying about the output, just covering their a$$es, they snuck in the < symbol, and obviously your output is definitely "less than" 5000mW.

Thanks for sharing pics with us.

No one I'm aware of has ever put one of these DPSS lasers into a pointer that approached 5000 mW. They could have just as well said it is <100,000 mW. I have a DPSS laser like yours in black that outputs around 50 mW, IIRC. It has been awhile since last I took it out and even looked at it. Seems like it was below the 80 mW that I usually got from these cheap laser pointers.

I figured as much DPSS are nowhere near that much.

Oh, you can get a 532nm DPSS laser that is way over 5000 mW, but they are lab lasers and way too large to put into a pointer. I have one that does 1300 mW and couldn't even put that into a pointer.

I should have specified that I mean handheld laser. Most of us don't have access to lab grade lasers.

Alright. I have had this for a few daysnow, but my Wish Thor style 450nm laser arrived; but I haven't posted yet because it's been an awful week.
So instead of making a new thread, I am showing the laser here for now, to get the approximates on outputs and such, until I end up sending a couple to Paul.
I have tested on a couple things (with an eagle pair of course) and without adjusting it almost immediately lights matches from about a foot away. It also can ignite white paper and burn through the actual stick of a match. It is safe to assume that it's at least 1 watt, but could be more, could be less. I don't know.
Anyways, here's a couple photos. One of the laser and a couple of the beam/dot in different lighting.

This^^^ blue one should be doing minimum 1W and maby up to 1.5W if your looking for a number.
When you reach the 1W range burning wood and paper is easy. It's hard to tell the difference between 1.5W to 2W at this point. Could also depend on what lens they put in. This is the same place that you ordered the 5000mw 532 if i'm right?
As far as your 532, if it lights a match that is black or you sharpie colored in a match in black it might be over 100mw because it takes at least 100mw in my opinion to light one, especially if the 532 isn't focusable.
I'm just trying to give you a idea because you are stuck on power numbers like all newbies do:)

532 doesn't ignite anything. I got the blue from a different seller. Same app though, and I was right, it said 14500 batteries, but I knew it was going to be 16340s. Have another set of 16340s off RTD Vapor, so that should be handy for when these are out.

50mw might pop a black balloon?? The silver one is a nice host but they aren't to user friendly as far as swapping out modules and basic upgrades. Doe's yours have that side momentary button?
You probably already know that 532 DPSS lasers do not like cold weather, to the point of not lasing green at all if it was in a cold garage for example. The palm of your hand can help keep it warm.:) Enjoy it for what it is
