Well I was going to buy some diffraction gratings from dragon lasers when I saw this
http://www.dragonlasers.com/product.php?productid=16332&cat=285&page=1
and was wondering if any body had used this thing before or if any body owns one...... if somebody did own one could you tell me the size and they type of threads that are one it because I may try and make an adapter for my rpl to fit this since laser glow wants 500$ for theirs and this is only 75 :P

The beam expander can be connected to our Viper, Aurora and Spartan Series lasers using optional adapters.

Expansion 10x
Max Input Beam Diameter <2.5mm
Output Aperture 20mm
Min Beam Divgergence Origianl Beam Divergence / 10 ( Eg, 1.5mRAD/10=0.15mRAD )
Max Beam Divergence 33mRAD
Min Focus Position 140cm
Max Focus Positon unlimited distance
Optical Glasses 4 Group, 4 Lenses
AR Coating [ch955][ch65309]470nm[ch65374]675nm, Single Lens [ch964][ch8805]99.5[ch65285], System [ch964][ch8805]98[ch65285]

So the Viper is equal to an X series, right? I may try to convince the house commander to let me get this.

Yup, Vipers and X-series are both CNI pens. $75 is a nice if this turns out good.

Pretty sure the original LaserGlow video used a telescope at 300ft or something.

Why not get a cheap rifle scope like this one for <$8 instead?

Because I can't simply screw that to the end of my X series and leave it be for all eternity as part of my laser. :)

and permanence is worth a 900% price increase?

Yes. I'm not into having a rifle scope rubber banded or duct taped to my laser. Its very much worth it to me to buy something that will screw directly on and look and function as something designed to work with my laser.

make sure you get the viper adapter.I want it too maybe in 2-3 months.

the rifle scope would work, but there would probably be greater light lost to lens surface reflections because the lenses in the scope are AR coated [maybe not] to allow light tranmissions across a wider light wavelength range. Refer to the AR specs for the beam expander.

I'm a gold member so save money and basically get the adaptor for free! :D
